Hey all, I will obviously be sounding like a newcomer here...but here goes. Thought I loved the Kraftmaid Venicia until I received the quote. Reality is steering me back to Ikea cabs. I read somewhere (and can no longer find the link) a reference about installing Ikea boxes and adding different doors (Venicia?). Just trying to think of a way to save $$, take advantage of Ikea's quality and get the look of some of the Venicia thermofoil wood colors. Is this idea crazy?
My whole problem would be fixed if there was Arlig Medium Brown (but Hallarum may work).
Not a crazy idea at all. Lots of people have done that. Scherr's is one online source that makes doors and drawer fronts, and they have done them for IKEA cabinet boxes for a number of people already.
Thanks for the reply. Are you aware of any companies that create the doors/drawer fronts with some of the more exotic veneers or other less traditional surfaces? I am a
newbie
(yikes I wrote it!) but was hoping there was a better selection of materials. Maybe I missed something on the scherrs site?

Mike, you're best off going with a local firm for doing that, I think. If you post your general location on the planet, maybe someone here can give you a recommendation.
Scherrs will make anything you ask them to. They have several woods in their pricing catalog, but will work up a bid on anything you ask. They're also great about talking with you on the phone to help you work out what you want. I'm not positive they do veneers, but I'm pretty sure they would if asked.
As to using the Venicia, you would need to be sure they come in the same sizes, particularly the drawers. Since drawers are so much more functional than simple doors, I would hate to give that up.
