So, I'm coming up with options just in case the ikea panel integrated dishwasher is not forthcoming any time soon.
Any opinions on Thermador vs. Kitchenaid for a panel ready dishwasher? The thing I like better about the KA is that it has a hard food disposal so you don't have to scrape dishes (we have no regular disposal)....
There are bad reviews on the internet for both, but I want real opinions... you can always find complaints on the internet!
I have owned the KA tall tub for 2 years and I love this machine. Anyone who reads me regularly can testify that I love the KA. You do have to get rid of excess food but you don't have to scrape.... I LOVE the different cycles and the fact that the glass rack raises or lowers. The 3rd rack at the very top for specialty items is great for my knives so my kids never go near them.
I have turned a few clients onto the KA and my mom regrets buying her Bosch now that she's seen the KA in action. I LOVE THIS MACHINE (chuck just told me that my love for my KA is a bit unnatural, but he also agreed that it's a great machine)
I got mine for under $1k which is what the thermador name tag goes for alone, right? I can't speak to the thermador, but I can say I don't ever want a different dishwasher
I have the panel ready one which will eventually have an AGA panel on it to match my future AGA Legacy
I had a KA prior to this move- when we had the opportunity I wanted a concealed control panel, and at that time, it was Bosch only (and I love it). I will say I LOVED MY KA.
I haven't seen Thermador on any lists of "best buys" which isn't to say that they aren't sturdy...just not reviewed. KA is a well known

brand with many happy customers...if I had to choose, I'd go with the KA panel ready (not sure if thats what you're interested in, just my .02 as styles go in and out, and panel ready will hold up as long as your doors are in style).

This news about your Kitchen Aid dishwashers also helps me cheers me up. I spent $$$$$ on my new appiances and I worry that I made the right choice. I've ordered the panel-ready KA drawer. It's going to be so cool to have a drawer as my second dishwasher!
I was going to get a Kitchen Aid warming drawer as well, but their's didn't come panel-ready. So I went with Jenn Air and ordered the panel kit for an extra $59.
Most warming drawers only come in stainless - not much choice.
thanks everyone... the KA it is! My sister actually knew somone who had a thermador and apparnetly with no hard disposal you have to clean some food receptacle, which is beyond gross... I don't mind gross things, but one of my biggest disklikes in the world, is nastly old waterlogged food... I can't see myself cleaning anything out of the bottom of a dishwasher!
I'm so excited!
Oh.. my sis has a KA panel ready, and loves it... she also has a KA two drawer

for her husbands coffee station... loves that one too!

Wow- your sister put in a 2 drawer dishwasher for a coffee station! That is a lot of coffee cups! What else do they use that area for?
I've noticed that the top drawer is very deep and will hold a ton. That is why I went with a single drawer for my prep and snack area.
I know my big problem is going to be having the discipline to unload the drawer. With the main dishwasher, you have to unload so you can load the next mean away.
But with the drawer, it will not force me as much. I'm a terrible procrastinator so I have to make a point of doing it really regularly. It is no good to me if it is always full of clean bowls, measuring cups, scrapers etc.
Zeuss, you have that exactly right. My longest experience with extra dishdrawers is at my very hard working and successful friend's home, and they have a lot of dishdrawers. The one on the lanai goes unloaded for actual months. The big boy in the butler's pantry as well...This is better than the dishes going unwashed for months!
However, if you actually use that area, you will of course unload it!
