It depends on what uses you have for the bar. Will it have a sink? Will you be blending lots of margaritas? Will you have tons of ice?

Can you go behind the bar? If so, some gray slate in the work area would be nice.

Absolutely! Margaritas and martinis. Do I then need to put slate or similar, in front of the bar as well? I don't plan on putting seats there but I am sure the spillage will take place on that side as well....hick....

Re: Abstrakt gray

If you can design it so the bar area is tiled without it looking too odd. It depends on the room shape etc. What about slate everywhere and a nice rug in the seating area? But carpet is definitely cheaper.

Can you post the floorplan of the whole room?

O.K. I'll go to my store and try to order a drawer front. I won't get there for a bit though. Shoot I wish I had tried earlier.

I'm thinking of doing the bar using the Abstrakt Gray and maybe Blue Pearl for the counter. The floor...no clue.

Do I need to do a tile or laminate in the area of the bar if we are considering the carpet for the rest?

Zeuss I do have a plan for the whole basement but we changed the shape of the bar at the last minute....doh! It is now a semi-circle facing what will be the media room.

I don't know how to attach the plan but it is huge as it is for the whole basement.

i added some abstrakt gray as a last minute design change. i had designed a nexus birch kitchen, but fell in love with they gray, so i put gray doors/drawers on the base cabinets in the main cooking area of my kitchen...really just three cabinets (30" 4-drawer base, corner base and the sink cabinet).
