Hi!
I would like to use the Abstrakt gray for a basement bar. I am at a loss as far as counter top without a sample of the gray. Does anyone know if there is a way to obtain a drawer front or sample piece of any size without ordering one piece and paying over $75 to ship it?

DH just won't go for that and I just am stymied without it.

My IKEA isn't even sure if and when they'll be doing a mock-up. They say eventually but that just won't be soon enough.

I don't understand, do you live near an Ikea?

They should have the sample on the sample wall for you to take countertop samples to.

Or you could buy a door or drawer front. It would be about 2 weeks until your Ikea gets it in, but you could pick it up instead of ship.

Our Ikea said it will cost $75 to bring in the door or drawer front.

i don't think your ikea knows what it is talking about. i bought a door to take home and look at with my floor and counter top. i just told the kitchen department i wanted one 24"x30" door in abstrakt gray delivered to the store for pickup. they put in the order and a few weeks later they called and told me to come pick it up.

That's what my sister did with Abstrakt Red. Just paid for the door and 2 weeks later picked it up.

If you need to have it shipped to your home, you might incur additional costs for that, but just to order it and pick it up at the store should cost you only the price of the drawer front or door that you order. If you're close to the store, you could also haunt the AS-IS, or if not, you could see if someone here would be willing to pick one up and ship to you.

IKEA used to have little sample bits, but I don't think they do anymore. Would be nice!

Nope - no sample bits anymore. They used to have the decor strips cut up to give out.

I just bought my grey sample
door for a dollar in as-is.
They had quite a few pieces.
Many had the hinge-plate holes
in the wrong places, so there might
be a quality control problem???

O.K. I'll go to my store and try to order a drawer front. I won't get there for a bit though. Shoot I wish I had tried earlier.

I'm thinking of doing the bar using the Abstrakt Gray and maybe Blue Pearl for the counter. The floor...no clue.

Do I need to do a tile or laminate in the area of the bar if we are considering the carpet for the rest?

Don't forget to check out as-is first,
or even ask someone in that dept.
to see if they have any grey doors
in the back? You can save some $.
