My wife and I are redoing our kitchen with the adel medium brown. I know Ikea makes an upper corner cabinet, however we want a 90 degree corner where the two runs of cabinets meet. Has anyone modified or otherwise created a blind corner cabinet that would allow for a 90 degree corner. Thanks
People have definitely done it: you just need to leave room for handles. So the blinded one may have to be pulled from the wall a bit, and you may use a different door than the one it "comes" with (keep in mind everything is actually sold individually!). That's so there can be a touch of filler where it meets the other cab. You'd want to think about which way the doors swing open too, of course.
Someone was going to see if they could make the doors that come with the 37" corner cabinet work with a custom wall corner arrangement--never saw the result posted. If you tried that, you'd need to create the same inner corner size and you'd need to buy the corner base (skip the lazy susan insert) in order to get the special doors and hinges (they work differently and the doors are drilled differently). If you come up with something cool, please do take lots of pictures and show us all!
So in my particular case we were going to use an 18 inch cabinet to finsh off one side of the kitchen, leaving a 12" void from the end of this cabinet to the wall. I was thinking that I could use a 30" cabinet with the one 18" door. Where the two runs of cabinets meet I was thinking I would attach a cover panel to the side of the cabinet that meets the 30" cabinet in order to fill in the 12" not occupied by a door and also allow for some spacing to get the 18" door open. Not sure if thats clear but any input would be appreciated. The kitchen is in an l shape if that helps. Thanks
Yes, it does make sense. Just one hint: keep in mind that you should actually account for at least 13" rather than 12" when dealing wth cabinet depth at corners. And don't forget the handles.

Re: Upper blind corner cabinet
Agree. That makes sense and since the cover panel is stationary, it, in effect, acts as a filler. But, I'm not sure I can envision what you're doing. Does one cabinet run all the way to the wall? Or is there an approx 12 x 12 area left empty in the corner? If so, any particular reason? Can you post a quick sketch. Guess I'm a visual person.

I did this as a base with a 12" deep cabinet on the left and a 30"
W
cabinet in the corner. There is a bit of empty space in the corner. I used a 12"W Arlig door as a cover panel. Later I attached an 18"W door on the right side of the 30" cab.
Deb's is much more elegant but I thought it would be helpful to see my in-progress picture.
