We have just completed the design of our new kitchen in solar beech with a top cabinet in Avsikt glass and would like you to have a look and let us know what you think about it.
Since space is very limited we were thinking of having a kitchen trolley which would give us additional working space.
Do you think we should go for an aluminium plinth or a solar beech one?
Also, could you confirm that the base cabinets come without legs and that we have to order them separately?
I can confirm that the base cabinets do not come with legs. You have a choice with the legs so they are sold seperately.
With regards to your plan, you may want to get rid of the wall oven and place it under the range and put the microwave over the range. I know a lot of people hate that look, but with your limited counterspace it would work the best. You really want some space on each side of the range.
I agree with Espo in such a small space. I would also suggest keeping the cab fronts all the same. The glass isn't balanced and there's no particular visual logic in its placement. In a small kitchen, a consistent appearance is best, I think. I'd also advise a somewhat shorter cab over the sink for head room comfort.
Thanks for your comments NBeth will take them into consideration, however don't you think it would look to busy being solar beech from top to bottom if we use solar beech plinths too? - that's what we're afraid of
I think the aluminum plinth would balance the aluminum of the glass doors and carry it around the rest of the kitchen. You could also use a back splash that would tie the aluminum and solar beech together.
A friend of mine recently completed a solar beech kitchen that looks fabulous. She used Avsikt glass for her uppers (they were minimal,) white for her wall of tall (I think Abstrakt,) solar beech plinths, a white counter, white backsplash and white appliances. It is beautifully balanced and fresh-looking. I think solar beech all the way up might look top-heavy.
