I think it is beautiful. Keep in mind the planned cabinets are Adel White. My concerns are about the versatility of this blue/grey colored floor and the coordinating palette. I don't know what color countertops to do (dark or light) and then paint colors are confusing too. I was looking at a buttery yellow

or a rich red

I do love color so I'm not too scared to make my kitchen "festive" but I don't want to be stuck with something that looks off in years to come or that restricts my options when/if I'd like to switch up the palette. Another concern I have is that what I'm looking for is "light and bright". I don't want to bring in a lot of darkness to the room. I don't know though...the blue flooring is pretty awesome. I'd probably go with a stone colored, white, or wood countertop (I'm not interested in a "modern" motif however). What do y'all think about this flooring option and/or my paint color ideas? Is blue/grey a neutral that will go OK with most colors or will I regret my decision? Color lovers encouraged to submit your opinions!
Thanks in advance,
Becca

Blue/gray strikes me as being a colder color, almost industrial if you will. That said, since the cabinets will be white, you've got a good visual break. Going with wood countertops will add some warmth.
As for wall colors ... I think bold bright colors will stand out too much. Perhaps a muted yellow, carrying some of the grayness, or light blue-green. Not that I'm an expert on paint colors or anything ... they're just my opinions.

Excellent point Narf. I think that you are right about bright walls with the blue being a bit much. A really light yellow/white might be nice: or a warm beige. I'm totally into a blue/green feel too. I think you are right that I'll need to balance out the coolness of the blue, so maybe I'll stay away from more blue come to think of it.
I don't think there's anything at all "industrial" about that floor. If you want to run with the blue, blue pearl granite would look super, or maybe Silestone Dali for something more modern and fun. But I would consider in a place like
Portland
whether you want a cool feeling kitchen. Here in sunny FL I'd love it, but in the rainy Pacific NW, I'm not so sure.

Yes...I am wanting to avoid other cool colors for that reason. I want a warm kitchen. I'm now leaning toward wood countertops and cream/yellow walls like this:

I think that that way I'll keep things kind of neutral but warm and can accent with more bold colors like red, blue, yellow and/or orange. Thanks so much for your input.
Yes, I prefer warm colors in a kitchen and I think they tend to arouse the appetite more than cool colors do. Keep that blue in mind for the bath, though!
I have always liked the idea of yellow walls with white cabinets for a kitchen--and loved the old yellow Stat (with a white wall, I suppose!). The empty room we installed our kitchen in was freshly painted and had been planned as yellow but the painters mixed up two rooms and the one that was supposed to end up green ended up yellow while the kitchen/living space wound up green. We made the best of it in the interests of timing and economy and warmed things up with our counters and backsplash. I think it works, but the next kitchen will have something warmer on the walls...
I agree. I like warm kitchens as well. I really like the red in your kitchen as well as the shelves above your backsplash - very cool! It would be neat too to prop pictures up on those.
