We are down to the wire (I leave for Seattle on Weds.), so we have some last minute details we need help on:
1. Do I need to order additional panels to cover the bottoms/undersides and top of the wall cabinets?
2. Has anyone built up a cabinet to add a drawer? We are planning on using an 18" drawer but would like to build it up to be the same height as the 39" high cabinets. It would be great if we could get a shallow drawer on top. I thought I read on here that you can buy the drawer front and internal assembly separate. Is that so? And, if so, does anyone know the part number?
3. Is there any reason why I should buy panels for the sides of the pullout pantries that will be bordering my refrigerator (on both sides)? Are they needed for insulation or some such thing?

The tops won't be seen. If you are using light rail, you probably won't need panels. If you're not, the undersides of the cabinets might be visible from a seated position. It's up to you.

I'm not quite sure what you mean...what does "build it up" mean? 39" high cabinets are wall cabinets or used for a raised bar at an island. They are shallow cabinets, so you would need a shallow drawer...I am not sure what sizes they come in or if they are available.

No, they are not needed for insulation. If you have a door color other than birch or white, you'll want cover panels on anything that shows. If you're using a large, deep overfridge cabinet, you would want to attach it to the side of whatever is next to it. If you don't have anything next to it, you can use cover panels, but if you have the pantry, attach it to that.
We are using some 39" H x 12" D cabinets as a bar. However, we are using one 24" D cabinet on the wall that abuts this bar. We would like to be able to "raise" the 24" D cabinet to the counter height of the 39 x 12" D cabinets. This is necessary because they do not make 39" H cabinets that are 24" D, only 12" D. Our thought was to build a drawer on top of the 18" W cabinet. That would, permit us to have two short and two deep drawers, instead of the original one short and two deep, while also accomplishing the height adjustment.
Does that make sense?
Also, do you know what color the undersides are of the wall cabinets with birch effect?
OK, I get it now. Do you want the whole cabinet raised? or do you want a two-level thing with a higher countertop in the back and the regular countertop in the front like an L shape going around the corner?
The birch cabinets are all birch, everywhere.
edited to add: there are four cams that show on the bottom of the cabinets.

We are shooting for raising the height of the whole countertop so that the 24" D cabinet ends up the same counter height as the abutting 12" D cabinets. We thought adding a drawer to the base cabinet frame would accomplish this but I cannot figure out how to order the assembly pieces (i.e. rail, drawer box, and drawer front).
I don't think you can add a drawer to the base without there being a box in which to put it. You need some way of building up the sides of the box so there's a place to attach the drawer rails.
So if I'm understanding this, you have 9" extra height to fill. If by chance this space is 30 or 36" wide, you could perhaps stack a 15" and 24" tall cabinet there to equal 39". I bet you could figure out some drawer configurations that would fit in one or both of those, or put doors on if not.
I hope you have a great time in Seattle. Bring your raincoat! We're drowning here, still!
