Shelf Liner

What are everyone's thoughts on using shelf/drawer liner?

We had some in our old kitchen because the existing shelves were pretty gross, but I never liked it. The stuff we had was quite rubbery and had too much grip. Any time I put the big heavy glass mixing bowls on the shelf the liner would grab and bunch if the bowl slid at all.

I know Ikea sells stuff that seems to be less grippy.

So...thoughts?

Re: Shelf Liner

I adore it in drawers so things don't slide around so much. Never have used it so much on shelves with heavy items, so can't speak to the bunching. But, if you ever put things away less than perfectly dry, the air space protects the surface. It is also protective if anything rusts or leaks. Those are the main reasons I use it.

Re: Shelf Liner

I cannot stand grippy things on shelves adn I detest the traditional sticky plastic crap that you see in most places.

I found this at bed bath and beyond about 5 years ago and have been using it. I like it for most things, but it can shift for higher up shelves if it's mostly empty and I slide something heavy in, but it's easy to install, easy to clean and is reusable. I'm taking them with me to the new house.

They make it in 12" size and 24" size.
