Question How to make an L-shape corner wall cabinet in lieu of the Ikea corner cabinet

Hi Everyone!

In planning our L-shaped kitchen, I would like some help (and pics!) from people who have successfully put together an L-shaped corner wall cabinet without using the Ikea corner cab. I find for the very modern style of our kitchen, I prefer the L-shaped corner look, and have some idea of how to do this, but wanted to run it by some 'experts' to see if I'm going the right way about it.

Beginning from the immediate right side of the sink, we'll place an 18" Avsikt wall cab, and right next to it, a 12" Nexus birch wall cab. Then we have about 13" to the end of the wall, and I was planning on placing a 24" Nexus birch wall cab perpendicular to this, with 12" inches (or so) being hidden behind the 12" wall cab, and the other 12" inches getting a single 12" inch door, with the hinge on the left (or should it be the right?). Then, next to that, a 36" in Aviskt cab.

I'm guessing that I'll need a filler of an inch or so next to the 12" in cab, so that there is space to open the door next to it. Can anyone tell me if this is right, or what other tricks I need to know about t make this work?

Also, I plan on using 6 or 10 " Lansa handles, installed horizontally on the cabs. Will this work, or will I not be able to open the wall cab doors without them bumping into each other? Are there some techniques I need to know?

I appreciate all and any help!

Thanks - and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

That's exactly it! I got some good tips - we'll see if we can make it work when it comes time to redo our kitchen.

If anyone out there has any additional tips about whether the Lansa handles installed horizontally on this type of modification works, let me know!

thanks!
