Lagan Butcherblock Sealing Instructions

Hello all,
I am close to finishing my kitchen remodel and I went with the Lagan butcherblock countertops. The instructions say to use the Ikea sealer and treat every few days for 2 months. Has anyone found a way around the 2 months of treatment? My wife is pregnant and I would definately prefer to seal it once or twice a year and be done rather than have the chemicals in the air regularly for the remainder of the pregnancy. I guess my question is can I go with a different sealer that will do the job quicker? Any help would be appreciated. Happy Holidays!

While it won't be quicker in applying, Waterlox is a more permanent solution versus the Behandla mineral oil, which even applied on a regular basis, does NOT create an impervious surface. It does cost more money, but it's well worth it; none of the typical home-improvement coatings come close to its performance.

On the other hand, Behandla is a relatively benign treatment that doesn't smell nearly as much as Waterlox or for as long. We used both and both have their place. I really like the Behandla's natural warmth and I rely upon Waterlox's finish to keep water from soaking the board that spams the sink zone! So it all depends on what's going where...
