Hey all,

I'm still dreaming of my Fagerland kitchen (things are on hold until this spring when we determine whether I'm moving to another state) and am wondering if anyone who is heading to Ikea soon can make a very-vague-planning judgement call for me. My current plans include a 6' long wall that will have shallow pantry cabinets on them. I need the shallow depth so that I still have room for a kitchen table. However, I am not wedded to a plain expanse of fagerland and am wondering if some of the other pine-heavy furniture ikea carries will work as a combo. Specifically, I'm interested in the Markor sideboard which is just a bit deeper than the shallow pantry and has a good heavy look to it. If anyone is at Ikea, could you glance at it in passing and let me know if you think it's a close match to Fagerland?

Fisheggs, I can't speak to Markor directly, but the brown/black finish matches all the other "brown black finishes". And the antique isa pretty standard color at IKEA.

IIRC, it looks pretty similar and there are other pieces like bookshelves etc that would work well if you end up in a house with a living area as part of the kitchen space. But, I think as far as getting the most storage space for your money, you'd do better with all fagerland. It doesn't have to be a "plain expanse"---you (or some of the amazing folks here) can get very creative with varied cabinet height and glass doors for something that looks more furniture-like.
