Hi,
I am getting mixed messages regarding the largest size sink that can be installed in a 24" inch cabinet. I want to use an undermount single basin stainless steel sink and I am thinking of a 23x18 (outside) and 21x15-3/4 (interior). Some manufacturers list minimum cabinet size as 25" for this size sink - others nothing at all. Could anyone advised who installed similar advise? Thank you. AMY
Actually I found an older entry that answered my question:
Galaxy Tool Supply has a Ticor S505 sink and it specifically lists that the minimum sink base cabinet required is 24". Hope this also helps others.
Okay I really need your help. I looked at Elkay ELU2115 and it seemed perfect at 22-1/2 by 17-1/2 ext. and 21x15-3/4 int BUT on the ELKAY site it lists the minimum cabinet size as 27" - is this for real? Please advise.

According to the Ticor website, your sink is 23" wide edge to edge, but only 21" wide at the bowl. That means that it will fit in a 24 " cabinet, with room to spare.
Just so you know, even if that weren't the case, you can cut the sides of the cabinet to give you extra room and allow sinks to fit intop spaces that don't appear possible.
One thing you will have to do is carve down the very top of the sides of your cabinet, so that the top of the sink flange sits flush with the top of the cabinet, and your counter can sit flat.

I'm guessing that the 27" measure is to allow room for the plumber to get between the sink and cabinet during other installation. You don't need that much room for the sink to fit in the cabinet.
Thanks guys for your response - this was so confusing. Chuck so although the interior of an IKEA 24" sink cabinet is really 22-1/2" I can still squeeze in 23" ext Ticor? I would prefer it to the slightly smaller 22-1/2" ext Elkay.
Dave yours was also 23" ext - did you have to do a lot of carving to make it fit? Best, Amy
