Question Door front choices - will Stat work here?

I have a long kitchen with cupboards along 1 wall only ( the other wall has no cupboards - just a fridge).
I want to add some cupboards to the other wall and would like to use Ikea cupboards. The doors won't match, though, and I can't reface the old cupboards with Ikea doors because of the sizes.

Here are my current cupboards:

I have some old tongue and groove wainscoting in the kitchen right now, so I was thinking Stat might be a good idea. Mind you, the new cupboards will cover most of that tongue and groove. But it gave me the idea that I could unify the overall look by adding beadboard to elements along the wall where the old cupboards are. I'd repaint the old cupboards to match the Stat cupboards.

I admit I don' t have much of an eye for design or decor, so was wondering if anyone had a feel as to whether this was a really bad idea. The panels on Stat cupboards stick out, vs the old cupboards which have a recessed panel - is that a "not done"? Adding beadboard to the other wall - is that too much with the beadboard look?

I'd really appreciate any feedback.

Thanks!

Re: Door front choices - will Stat work here?

Well, I guess the good news is that 126 people have looked at my post and no one has suggested that I'd be making a horrible mistake!

I'll go into Ikea next weekend hopefully and put in an order.

Re: Door front choices - will Stat work here?

Hi and welcome.

I don't have a strong feeling that Stat would work well or not. If I was pondering this type of thing I'd bring one of my doors with me to Ikea to do a side by side evaluation; there might be another style that hits you as a better fit. I'd personally try to avoid painting cabinets because of the work involved and they look to be in great condition now. Maybe one of the lighter wood styles would complement what you've got and avoid the need to paint. Your own eye is the best guide.

I'm interested in what you decide - post pictures if you get a chance. Good luck.

Another option is to remove your old wall cabinets on the other side and buy matching cabinets. They aren't that much money and easy enough to install.

It's hard to comment when you don't show the side/wall that will be receiving the new cabinets.

I would tend to go with something that contrasts more if it would work with the rest of the kitchen. If contrast isnt your thing, I would look at LIDINGO before stat because of the similarity in style with your existing cabinets.
