I have a long kitchen with cupboards along 1 wall only ( the other wall has no cupboards - just a fridge).
I want to add some cupboards to the other wall and would like to use Ikea cupboards. The doors won't match, though, and I can't reface the old cupboards with Ikea doors because of the sizes.
Here are my current cupboards:
I have some old tongue and groove wainscoting in the kitchen right now, so I was thinking Stat might be a good idea. Mind you, the new cupboards will cover most of that tongue and groove. But it gave me the idea that I could unify the overall look by adding beadboard to elements along the wall where the old cupboards are. I'd repaint the old cupboards to match the Stat cupboards.
I admit I don' t have much of an eye for design or decor, so was wondering if anyone had a feel as to whether this was a really bad idea. The panels on Stat cupboards stick out, vs the old cupboards which have a recessed panel - is that a "not done"? Adding beadboard to the other wall - is that too much with the beadboard look?
I'd really appreciate any feedback.
Thanks!
