Using the kitchen planner

I have a couple questions about using the kitchen planner.

1. How do you stack cabinets? Someone on the Home Forum told me to try stacking them on the ground, then move them using the shift key to select both cabinets, but I couldn't get that to work.

2. How do you indicate empty space? I want to put a cabinet over the refrigerator with its top even with the adjacent cabinets, which means a space of a couple inches above the fridge. However, the kitchen planner puts this cabinet right on top of the fridge, and I can't figure out how to move it a bit higher.

Thanks for your help.

.. Joann

Hi Joann and welcome!

The planner is rather rudimentary in some respects. The overfridge cabinets are not very flexible, they go where they go and won't go anywhere else. To stack cabinets on the wall, sometimes it helps to make the ceiling height higher, like 10 feet or so, to give the planner room. And sometimes you can stack them on a blank wall and then select the grouping and move it around in the 3D view.

HTH!

I understand about the over-fridge cabinet going where it goes. I just can't figure out why I can't get it to go anywhere over the fridge when I use the cover panels on either side to enclose the fridge. As I said, the cabinet is the same width as the fridge, and should fit between the panels fine.

I've already made the ceiling height 11', so there's plenty of room for what I want to do. And, as I mentioned, I'm already stacking the cabinets on the floor (or another wall) and then trying to move them. The question I had in this regard was how to move a group of cabinets together.
