I am remodeling my kitchen and have purchased KenmorePro appliances. I have double ovens with a warming drawer underneath (although the drawer is a separate appliance).
My cabinets are Adel Medium Brown and the double oven cabinet doesn't have an area for the warming drawer.
Is it easy/possible to modify the cabinet (install it upside down) and insert the warming drawer there? Or, is it possible to modify a base cabinet somewhere else (like by the stove) for insertion of the warming drawer?
I've searched the forums and haven't found anyone with the same problem/question.
Thanks for any suggestions.
The warming drawer can be installed under the double oven - the appliance locations in the cabinet are variable. You may need some extra filler strips if there are gaps between the units - you can cut these from a 30" frawer front.
Okay, now I have a question about modifying a cabinet to fit my Kenmore Pro Cooktop. According to the demensions of the stove top, which is a drop-in, I couldn't use a 36" base cabinet because I needed an extra inch or so for the part being inserted into the base.
Soooo, I took a corner cabinet, left off the extra wood that juts out to make it a corner cabinet and adjusted the top boards/braces accordingly. So now I have this FABulous 37" cabinet and I need to figure out how to install drawers or doors or SOMEthing so my lovely kitchen (eventually) isn't plagued by a hollow cabinet staring out from the middle of the room.
you could "build out" one side (on the interior) and install drawers: either using a false drawer front on the top or flipping them so that the
deep drawer is on the top and the shallow on the bottom (i have a mod which allows you to "create" a shallow 36")you'd need some filler to flush out the area... i chose drawers because the glide install drops down a bit leaving room for the cooktop.
you could also do plain old pull outs
or even doors
So this won't make the cabinet front look lopsided, off-center, out of sync with the rest of the cabinets? I guess I could build out both sides equally, install the drawers and then use the filler/toe kick wood on both sides of the drawer so that it looks centered under the cooktop. Hmmmmmm . . . this might just work.
unless symmetry is an OCD type need (my mom has this) you won't even notice that you have an inch of filler on one side.
the reason i would prefer only building out one side is that you won't have to fuss with the holes on one side... i like avoiding unnecessary work whenever possible
I'd be tempted to get the post for the corner cabinet, install that in the middle with doors on either side - or get two and use one at the front, one in the middle to support drawer rails and use a strip of cover panel or something to fill the space in the middle. That would preserve the symmetry and add additional support. Of course, if the cabinet is already installed with the cooktop in it, this could be problematic.
