Modifying base cabinets to 19" depth--help

Hi everyone--

Once again, I turn to you all for your collective wisdom and experience. I haven't had luck finding threads on this yet: I need to replace the base cabinets in my wet bar, and would like to use Ikea cabinets, as I used them in my kitchen and love them there. The catch: the space is 19" deep on the base, with a potential projection of the cabinet above the plinth of a few inches, at most. Now with the usual base cabinet depth of 24", I wonder if we can somehow modify the cabinets to this depth.

I would assume that drawers wouldn't work, and that would be OK. THe total cabinet length is 60". Does anyone have experience with a modification like this? We appreciate any guidance folks can offer.

You'd have to redrill the holes along the back for the shelves to go in, I would think, and for the cambolts on top and bottom. Other than that, I don't see that it's a problem.

Have you considered building out a frame and using shallow cabinets instead? Or using a sideboard or other dining cabinet? Most of them are less than 19" deep and there are several slightly less than 60" wide. Magiker or Bonde might offer some options as well. And PAX has shorter cabinets in 19 and 39 inch widths, you could do one of each. They come in 13 and 22 inch depths.
