new & overwhelmed - first pass at a plan!

Okay - here it goes - I plan to use Nexus Birch
mission statement

"I want my kitchen to have more counter space, and a comfy place for two young kids to sit, eat, chat, etc. while I move around the kitchen. I want to be more organized. I want the kitchen to fit within an Eichler-type house and look modern yet inviting. I want to use greens and interesting materials (stainless, glass, etc.).

I have posted my first attempt at a plan - I know - its needs some work, but the planner kept crashing!!

My big question is the corner nearest the dishwasher. I would really like to have a big 3 drawer base cabinet to store all the stuff that comes out of the dishwasher. If I put a corner cabinet, then I can't get the drawers. If I don't use a corner cabinet - the cabinets end at the wall and then I'm not sure where to put the upper cabinets (right now they are at a 90 deg angle from the base cabinets - is this okay?

Other question involves the stove/oven unit - If I leave it here - then the hood is against the window. My other option is to move it to the wall between the sink and fridge - I couldn't make the planner show it, but this is going to open up into the living/dining room. It will be a full wall in the corner and then get cut down to just above counter height. If the stove is on this side, the hood will be hanging down in the open space btwn the two rooms.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Best,
Karen

Hi Karen and welcome!

I have some questions about your plan...your range looks really tiny in the pic and it appears to be under the window, which around most parts is a no-no. Your island also looks like it could be a problem if you plan on having seating there. Could you post or PM your IKEA planner username and password? I'd like to play around with your plan.
