Re: Planner Tips and Tricks

Hi MLS99!

Sometimes it helps to make the wall height higher. Moving the cabinets one at a time in the 3D view also helps.

There's two little buttons on the 3D view that looks like a three-dimensional boxes on the left just below the main screen. One is to show the cabinets with doors, the other is to show them without doors so you can see the shelves.

In the 2008 planner, you choose the view per cabinet, at the top of the left screen there's a drop down menu for the drawers to be open or closed.

HTH!

In the planner, go to "Wall Cabinets". Choose either 30 or 39 inch high cabinets. Below that, then choose "Cabinets with Glass Doors".

Re: Planner Tips and Tricks

I have a question. When I put some cabinets in my floor plan another picture opens up, suggesting 48" between cabinets and so on. what does the one with the large cabinets on top of the drawer style cabinet mean? Usually occurs when I add a pre-assembled island to the mix. thanks

Re: Planner Tips and Tricks

I'm not sure what picture you refer to, but sometimes the planner gets upset when you put a drawer cabinet next to or close to a range. Seems it is worried that a child would use the drawers like stairs!

I've been blogged!
Re: Planner Tips and Tricks

Inner walls - has anyone figured out how to put a wall up in the middle of the room to put cabs on? I thought I read somewhere that the 08 version was going to allow us to do that~ Maybe an Ikean told me???

I am planning a really funky space right now and having a really hard time.

Thanks
Deb

Re: Planner Tips and Tricks

Depending on the dimensions, you can use a heater and change the dimensions to the size of the wall, then move it around with the arrow keys. I do that for columns.

Lightbulb solution for planner problems

I have been having the same problem as many others with the planner freezing up and crashing and was completely unable to run it on my home computer. My DH, genious that he is, managed to get it running for me. He said it was a conflicct between the processing speed of the graphics card and the hardware accelerator on the operating system, all of that is way over my head to be honest but the fix , he assures me is pretty simple.

right click on blank area of desktop
click on properties
settings tab
advanced button
troubleshoot tab
adjust hardware acceleration down to none
click ok
start application
if working repeat steps adjusting acceleration

All of the usual disclaimers apply...you're results may vary...I am not resposible for the well being of you're computer...

Good luck

Re: Planner Tips and Tricks

Good Morning!
I've been toying with the kitchen planner but am having an issue with angled walls. Our kitchen has a couple angled walls that have made doing a more precise plan impossible (for me). Any suggestions?

(this is a rough mock-up of our kitchen footprint)

Question Re: Planner Tips and Tricks

We are in the process of designing our new kitchen using the IKEA planner, but can't seem to get the upper cabinets to appear in 3D view. More accurately, most of the uppers are hidden behind the lower cabinets, and only occasionally do they appear on the wall. Any suggestions?
