Fridge with custom panels and IKEA cabinets

Hi all,

We're looking to use a cabinet depth fridge for our kitchen, and I ran across this nice Jenn-Air model:
Jenn-Air: Side-by-Side Refrigerators JCB2282KTW

It requires custom panels to be installed. According to the guide (http://www.jennair.com/assets/product/JCB2282KTW_DD.PDF) I am looking for one panel that is 18 15/16" wide and another that is 13 15/16". Both should be 66 3/4 tall.

Do any of the tall cabinet doors (Adel Medium Brown) fit these dimensions? It's tough to tell from the KP just how tall these doors are. If I have to cut the panels down, will it look "funny"?

If anyone has any experience (pics especially) installing one of these types of fridges with IKEA cabinets I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks,

Darren.

The tallest door is 64" - you would need to use 80" cover panels and cut them to fit. The cut edges would need to be finished to match the panel colour.

Thanks Torrus. I was hoping to avoid cover panels as I figured the flat surface wouldn't look very interesting.

Another option would be this fridge
Amana

It's a bottom mount fridge, thats wider instead of taller. I'd have to fit two panels side by side in order for it to work.

According to the sheet, the top panel is 42" high and 35 5/8" wide and the bottom panel is 23 1/4 by 36 1/16"

This means I would be looking for two panels that are roughtly 18" by 42" for the top, and 16" by 23 1/4 for the bottom. Are there any ikea doors that are these dimensions?

Hi there! It's a cool thing to try, and I'll be very interested to hear what you end up coming up with.

I'd caution you about the thickness of the panels, though - that's likely to be more of a problem than the height and width. I know that there isn't any ikea product that works well as dishwasher panels in the United States (they have them in Europe) and so I'd be worried that the same might be true for fridges.

You can probably still make it work if you have the ability to rout grooves on the sides and that sort of thing, but it won't be as simple as just snapping the panel into the normal fridge panel opening.

Good luck!
