White or Birch Cabs??

I am considering Tidaholm bases mixed with some Aviskt glass horizontals with matching wood trim mixed with solid Tidaholm uppers. Trying to create modern but with some warmth. Would you go with white or birch cabs. The ikean said birch but I sort of feel it would look like a poor attempt at matching woods. I'm thinking the contrast of the white interiors would be more attractive especially with the glass uppers with interior lights but I am worried about the white peaking through when the doors are closed. I've read a lot of complaints about this with the Adel MB. Your thoughts appreciated.Thx T

PS Would 2 stacked wall horizontals be equal in height and depth to a 30" vertical wall cab. Ikea told me yes but they sure don't look like it in the planner.

I prefer the birch boxes with any wood-tone doors. How about using the birch boxes wherever there is Tidaholm, but use white boxes for the few glass doors?

We chose white boxes for our Adel MB doors for the same reason - I felt the boxes should be the same or totally different, and the birch just wasn't cutting it. But we did edge banding to match. It's personal preference though.

The medium brown is quite a bit darker than the natural oak, perhaps the tiny sliver of white edge peeking through between the doors wouldn't be as noticeable.

IKEA may have made your decision for you - that is, if you want all the boxes to match. I believe that the horizontal boxes only come in white, not birch. Since it seems you were leaning that way, that might be good news

But you can make the horizontals birch by buying contact paper from Berlin Wallpaper (maple wood grain). The color is almost an identical match.

Thx everyone for your input. I'm so overwhelmed right now I just can't imagine having to do edgebanding etc. as well. I really would like horizontals and as Ikea only has them in white I guess thar's what it will be unless of course I change my mind again which seems to happen everytime I visit this site as there are so many new ideas. Although if two horizontals don't equal the height of a 30" vertical and they don't come with aviskt doors then I will have to rethink the whole thing. Anyone know?
Climber girl, you have a lovely home. Same kind of feel as ours. It's comforting to know that others are living thru the chaos of do it yourself renos. PS If anyone wants to have a look there are some pics of the state of our kitchen as it is now. Tumbilli's Kitchen

Thx again T

It gets really scary, I know the feeling. Love the white cabs that I've seen so far on this site. Wishing you lots of luck and sending good vibes
