Can I fit a 30" wolf cooktop into a 30" base cabinet?

Hi,

I am intererested in getting a wolf 30" cooktop, which says it has an interneal cutout requirement of 29". I think the IKEA 30" base cabinet has an internal width of 28.5".... I'm not sure if wolf is just being conservative by saying it is 29". Has anyone done this? If it won't fit does anyone know of any non-IKEA cooktops that will fit into a 30" cabinet?

You can cut the side gables of the cooktop cabinet to accomodate the cooktop.

YES!

I also fit a 30" cooktop into a corner cabinet (Varde). Fits very tight but perfectly. You have to take advantage of the dimensions of the cooktop below the decorative flange and carefully position the front to rear aspects.

I made a cardboard cutout of the bottom of the cooktop and we then placed the countertop back on the base. While my son held the countertop still I moved the template about on the underside until it fit perfectly. Then I taped the template down and we brought it outside and traced the template. A few jigsaw minutes later and our cooktop fit perfectly.
