Is there any standard amount the countertop should overhang the side of a cabinet? This is obviously the end of the run and butts up against (or close to) a door casing.

Should it be the same as the front overhang, or doesn't it matter?

Regarding front overhang, I don't have the doors on, but was surprised to see how much it overhangs with the cabinets pushed against the wall and a 7mm gap (or 2/8" per the instructions ) at the back. I'm sure when I put on the doors it will look "normal".

The doors are usually 3/4 of an inch or so, so I bet it will look fine. Just to make it uniform, I usually overhang it the same amount on the sides as the front, once you take into account doors and cover panels. But really, it's all personal preference. The counter police won't come after you if you do it differently!
