Birch cabinets with birch frames?

We recently decided to not go with Adel MB and instead go with Nexus Birch. With this change, I now have a question about cover panels:

After reading this thread (http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/desig...does-mean.html), am I to understand that the birch frames match well enough with the birch doors so that we won't need to get cover panels?

Thanks for any tips you have!

Re: Birch cabinets with birch frames?

Are you talking about using cover panels for the uppers or base or both? There will be a gap on the uppers between the wall and the cabinet - a cover panel is needed if this bothers you and you want to cover it up.

Also, I find that the finishing details on the cabinet body are a little less nice than on the panels and doors - i.e., the joins between birch melamine sheets on the corners edges doesn't look quite as good as the corners and edges of the panels.

Re: Birch cabinets with birch frames?

We were originally going to use cover panels on the following:
  • Refrigerator cabinet
  • Base cabinets on the island (both ends are open)
  • Side of the tall pantry
So on those edges, we were hoping to have them look finished. So it sounsd like we should get the cover panels... no biggie. Just hoping we could possibly get away w /o.
