I have a teeny NYC kitchen that's only 5.5' X 10.5 feet. Believe or not that's considered large for a studio apt. The kitchen is "U" shaped. The long wall is 10.5 feet, and I originally wanted a corner cabinet on each end, but then though it would cut into the kitchen too much and make it look much smaller. Does anyone have this configuration with 2 corner cabinets. Are my fears well founded?
I can have two custom easy reach cabinets made and use two 12" wide doors on each, but it would be much more expensive. I will do it if you feel that the two corner angled cabinets would make the kitchen feel much smaller, and closed in. Would appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks ;-)...
Hey, Blondelle! Good to see you again! Probably your best bet is to use a 36" cabinet with a 15" door and the Lee Valley blind corner cabinet pull-out. There's a thread here Lee Valley Blind Corner unit install in 49" blind corner cab that's going to be an article very soon with a TON of illustrative pictures. Boykster used the 49" cabinet for his, but it can be done with just a 36" base - this is how kmcg and others have done it.
btw
, there are 24" appliances close on the horizon. Ovens and cooktops are due out this month, but we still haven't heard anything about slim fridges for the North American market.
Thanks Susan, but I forgot to mention they were "upper" corner cabinets I was concerned about. Those were the ones I was afraid would cut the space of the kitchen. as they are pretty large and bulky and jut out from the corner right angle. Do you believe after all this time I'm STILL working on this kitchen...
lol
!
Any word on the new cabinet door styles? Getting to be that time of year again. I would love to have a 24" fridge that takes IKEA panels. Can't believe they won't still give that to us when they have them in Europe for quite a while ;-(.
Ah...well, that would be different then. You did say angled corner cabinets - I just didn't catch on! I'll let some of the more expert folks in planning chime in on this one...I don't have much to base an opinion on.
Oh, and...

-- at least you're working on yours! The only renovating I've done is on this site! Quelle différence, eh?
As for new styles, there's word of a new white door with integrated handles a la Linjar Blue - it will be called Solar. There's also going to be a Nexus Yellow-Brown (hideous name - we prefer to call it Honey Brown) that is supposed to be similar in color to Adel Medium Brown, but as a slab. Also there is to be a Nexus Cognac - although that one is more sketchy. I think that's all we know...we haven't any pictures as yet.
