Hi all, we finally purchased our kitchen from Ikea and have put them together this past weekend. My Ikean apparently gave me 2 full doors, 2 drawer fronts and 2 24" in doors for 1 30" sink cabinet. So, we have the options to pick which one to keep...

My question is... which door would look better for a sink cabinet? This is our first kitchen, so we want to make sure to make the right decison!

What's the configuration of your lower cabinets? If most cabinets are doors only or pullouts, then doors would look more uniform. If most are drawer sets, then use the drawer/door combo.

Thanks! Most of my cabinets are doors, but the sink cab is right next to a 3 drawer cabinets. If we do go w/ the drawers with 2 lower doors, how do we mount the drawer fronts to the cab? Glue them?

if you want to use false drawer fronts you would use the hardware to attach it, it's a white triangle-ish piece of metal with 2 additional side brackets.

or you could buck all the "standard" things above and create under sink drawers like this

i personally hate false drawer fronts and would go with full doors before going false. but i love my bottom drawers

Just so you can see another possibility, check out PollyQ's under sink pullout using full height doors: sink pullouts Photo Gallery by pollyq at pbase.com

You could also do this pullout with false drawer fronts on top and the 24" tall doors at the bottom - that is what I plan to do with my bathroom sink bases.

Thanks for the replies! I like the pullout idea. Where do you get the little piece of wood from? It didnt come w/ my 30" sink cab... unless I am missing a piece =\

That is the Akurum drawer partition - it can be ordered separately but it comes in standard 30" & 36" 4 drawer base sets. Since on a sink base, you usually just use the drawer fronts as false fronts, they do not include it, just the bracket for the false fronts.

Are those drawers in the "plinth?" If so what drawers are they and what did you use for fronts.


If I can ask further, are there deep drawers for a 24" cabnet?

hi paul, nope, they're not toe kick "plinth" drawers... i just mount drawers at the bottom of the cabinet and put my doors above it. there is a step by step article about it too

and now there are deep 24" drawers. there is a thread around here somewhere with all the article numbers for the 24" combos, but most ikeans know of their existence
