Post adel medium brown

Hi guys! I have been reading your great info for some time now. We went to Ikea (four hour drive) yesterday to order our medium brown adel cabinets. However, upon seeing them in person we noticed the trim from the akurum shows on most of the edges. My dh refused to order without a solution to the edge issue...so we left without ordering cabinets This may have been discussed on previous posts??? Has anyone found a solution to this? Please help! I loved ikea's cabinets and I can't bear to start all over on the kitchen planning process! Thanks!

I originally posted this on THS and am hoping I can get a response from someone here. Did anyone have problems with the edges showing? And did you replace it using the edge banding? I hope someone can please help. The info on the site is great and much appreciated!!! Especially for the long distance ikea fans!!!!

rrsmom, I believe what you are looking for is on the FAQ page of this site, second Q&A.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Megan for your reply!

I have spent the last few days reading the THS archives although I could not open the following files because of 'conversion' files?: Vol: 1,2,10,12,13,15,16,17,18,19.

What I discovered is that edgebanding and detailed discussions exist in Volumes: 21,24,45,46,47,48,49.

It seems the most discussion was in volumes: 45,46,47.

By doing a search ("ctrl f " on your keyboard) for adel or edgebanding, you will save time in your quest for info.

I hope this helps someone else as much as all those who have contributed and started this site have helped my and my dh !

And if anyone can tell me how to open those files I couldn't access I will post anymore info regarding MEDIUM BROWN and edgebanding!!!

Thanks to all!

Okay. After all my new education on medium brown and edgebanding, we have decided to go with Adel birch. Now that we are over that big hump of decision making I had another question. I have been working on my kitchen design and was wondering if we can use a decor strip as a filler between the range and the cabinet? Can an 88" wall panel be used as cabinet panels?

Thanks!

Adel Birch is a very attractive style and very adaptable--can look very contemporary, or very traditional. Congrats on making a decision....for some people, that's the longest part of the process!

As far as the deco strip being used as filler, absolutely. See the Interiors page for pictures of them being used that way. Towards the bottom, I think... You could also use them on their edges, with the width showing if you need a wider filler. People also have used pieces of doors, cover panels, oven panels and toekick, which is what IKEA recommmends using.

I'm not sure what you mean by using the 88" wall panel as a cabinet panel? It's used as a cover panel for an 88" pantry.... They sell cover panels in sizes intended for base cabinets, wall cabinets and high (pantry) cabinets. There's also the 3' x 8' oven panel, that's thicker and stronger--meant for weight-bearing. What were you thinking of using it for?

We livefour hours south ofHouston. So...we were thinking to order an extra "big" piece just in case we needed it for something we hadn't planned on. We are going to combine 39" wall cabs with 30" wall cabs. I wasn't sure if we would need to cover thesides that would show or if the box is a close enough match to the birch wood. Does that make since?

And if we order extra items and don't use them, can we return them?

It sure is hard to plan this long distance!!! And we wouldn't even be attempting it if I hadn't been able to read your "oh so informative" site!!!
