Exclamation No drawer dividers for 30" shallow drawers

I put three 30" drawer stacks in my kitchen and on each of them I bought the 30" shallow drawer that typically would go in an oven stack and swapped out the pair of 15" shallow drawers on the top row. I figured it would be a fine idea to not lose the space that naturally would fall between two top drawers.

I avoided buying the Rationell drawer dividers until it looked like we would get in the kitchen soon, since I believe that drawer dividers are the kind of thing that you don't know what you need until you are actually putting your stuff in there. I didn't want to buy them early and have trouble returning them. It looks like we are pretty close to being able to move into the kitchen (yes we started last Thanksgiving and yes we are PAYING somebody to do all this and yes it has taken them forever), so I went down today and bought a bunch of this and a bunch of that.

But when I went to buy the drawer dividers for my 30 " drawers - one of which will house pot lids so I need a few dividers, one will house cutlery so I need lots of dividers, and one will be my beloved junk drawer and so will need lots of dividers, I discovered that IKEA DOESN'T MAKE DIVIDERS FOR MY 30" DRAWERS.

My Ikean was surprised too and she said she would have to modify her own kitchen design because of what we learned. We figured we could take a the set of dividers for a 24" drawer and use it - leaving a 6" space over to one side.

Are there other solutions?

Re: No drawer dividers for 30" shallow drawers

I think you could probably use 2 of the 15 inch shallow drawer dividers and use the side by side ... the click on to the back of the drawer - and do have a parts that run the full way across towards the front of the drawer - you'd probably have a small gap where the two of them meet - but I don't think that'd cause any trouble ... you'll have a ton of options for how you divide up and use that space ... super, super organized. I'd try the two shallow 15 inch organizers in your 30 inch shallow drawers.

That's a great idea and, since I brought home lots of 15" dividers, I can give it a try this weekend.

Re: No drawer dividers for 30" shallow drawers

I tried two fifteens and it wasn't quite right. There is a three-inch gap between them so my guess is that a fifteen and an eighteen would about do it.

Thanks for the update Kate ... depending on what you're putting in the drawer you may want the gap (or not). I found that I didn't actually end up using all the pieces to the dividers in some of my drawers ... I absolutely love the dividers though - The drawers I'm using them in are sooooo organized - even my "junk drawer".
