I like it! You've got some nice work arrangements, good symmetry with the three upper cabs on either side, and lots of room to work around your primary appliances.

You may want to go with glass front cabinets on one of those groupings of three, either the sink side or the fridge side, just for a bit of display space.

I am assuming that is a range, not a cooktop, right?

Good job!

It is a range and not a cooktop. The only reason I haven't put any glass in there is that at the far end of the dining room I plan to have a hutch-like ikea grouping around a window but I would have it in a wood, possibly Adel Birch, rather than the Adel White. And the glass is different. I think having two different kinds of glass wouldn't be good.I'll post the full floor plan when I can get my computers to behave.

Kate -- LOOKS GREAT!!! Looks like you nailed it in one -- congrats!

Is that a trash pull-out to the left of the sink? I'm thinking of putting one in our upcoming reno with a toekick kickplate so that I can open it without touching the door. This is the only link I know of, but there may be other (less expensive) places to get one. That's not true. Here's another one: Foot pedal for can on shelf at bottom.

So, I'm assuming pots and pans in drawers to left of range, utensils and such in drawers to the right. Silverware in drawers next to dishwasher with plate storage above. Where's your food going? Near the range? Is your primary prep space in that corner? Very well laid out, indeed....

Oh, duh. I forgot to say...if you want to post pictures inline, you'll need to have them hosted on Photobucket or Yahoo...somewhere like that. Then check the Updates and Announcements forum for a thread with directions on how to postpictures inline.

Hope that helps!

Many thanks. This isn't number one of course, it is many many many many re-dos.Yes that is a trash pullout to the left of the sink. My big ah-ha was yesterday when I followed the links to Rev-A-Shelf and figured out that I only needed 15" for the trash and recycling. I really wanted full-sized cans and at least two of them in there. Until then I had a 12" spice pullout, then the 18" trash, then either 24 or 30" sink, and my cabinet doors were all over the place. Once I figured out I could do a 15" trash and be happy, everything fell into place: 15" spice pullout, 15" trash, 30" sink with two 15" doors.

I also have had trouble with the cabinets over the range. With a six-burner gas stove, and with my plan to raise it up on its feet as high as it will go - about 37", I was (and to a certain extent still am) worried that I really needed to adhere to the rule that says to make the hood 3" wider than the range on each side. But I just couldn't make it work so I gave up.

How do those foot pedals work? Does the door automatically close when you let go? I wouldn't want it to; I envision keeping it open as you prep next to it and just dumping the garbage in there as you go.

So yes, the primary prep area is in that corner between range and sink. The cooking utensils and hot pads will go in that 15" drawer stack, spices and oils in the undercounter 15" pullout. Cuisinart in the lazy susan.

Is there room in the lazy susan to put cutting boards vertically against the walls and have the susan miss them? I have about six boards that I use - sometimes all in one night - and right in that corner is the best place for them.

I am really excited about this prep corner and protected space for the cook. Right now the range is in the corner where the refrigerator will go and when little ones run through the kitchen, they round that corner right next to hot grease and such.

Pots and pans to the left of the range, silverware to the right of the dishwasher, dishes to the right of the window just above the silverware. At the end of the peninsula I drew a 12" island cabinet that I mean to be a bookcase for cookbooks so I can sit on the peninsula and grab what I need.

Most of the food will go where it is now, in a closet in the hall just beyond the opening by the refrigerator.

And if you read this far, can you tell me how to insert a paragraph return? All of mine just disappear when I hit preview?
