Domsjo double sink and butcher block countertop

So after a weekend visit to Ikea, our current obsession is with the domsjo double sink. We totally love its looks and its SIZE. The question is will there be a problem with the overhanging lip and a butcher block countertop? If we treat the countertop with many coats of waterlox before putting the sink in, will we be ok, or are we asking for trouble? We don't really plan on cutting on the butcherblock at all. Just like the looks of it.

We are currently converging on Lidingo cabinets and domsjo sink. Our countertop choice changes daily between granite and butcher block. The price of the butcher block countertops at ikea just can't be beat!

Can't answer your question, but I am currently installing Lidingo with oak butcher block and the double domsjo sink. We love all 3 components and it will not look out of place in our house.

More importantly, I hadn't thought about treating the worktop before I install the sink. My wife is in such a hurry to get running water back in our kitchen, I'm under a little pressure!

Oh, great! Can you post some pics when you are done? We use the Stoughton store too. Did you have any troubles ordering the Lindingo cabinets?

Re: Domsjo double sink and butcher block countertop

The Domsjo is incredible isn't it?! They were seriously backordered a year ago when we were selecting our sink so we had to scratch it off our list. So. . . I don't have a Domsjo but I have used Waterlox and I don't think the lip will present a problem, especially if you treat the countertop before installation. A bead of clear silicone would also be wise along the joint between the countertop and the sink.

We loved the look of the butcherblock with Lidingo but ended up with granite because the number of seams that would have been required in our configuration. Would love to see pics when it's all done!

Think about how big and heavy that sink is and do it now.... you're sure not going to want to do it later! We treated cutout edges, outer edges, top, bottom, everything, with multiple coats. It's worth it for peace of mind.

Lidingo is stocked at the Stoughton store, so you don't have to order them, you just pick up the doors as a cash and carry. I placed 3 orders, the first two times they were out of stock in some of the doors, but they came in quickly (7 to 10 days) and the final order had everything in stock.

We went on weekday evenings and found it quite painless. I only had to wait for a kitchen specialist once and that was when another couple beat me by about 10 feet. We were both in returns, returning kitchen stuff and we both left at about the same time. I guess they had a quicker shortcut to the kitchen department than I did, because they popped out right in front of me and grabbed the only unoccupied clerk, so I had to wait 15 minutes.

Considering some of the wait times I've heard/read about, each visit was surprisingly easy.
