Kitchen Design, Problem with entrances

I have attached my current kitchen design. I am having problems finding pieces that will work near the entrances to the kitchen. Ideally, I would put in a triangle piece at each end of the cabinets. The closest thing I have seen is the 'open end shelf'. If I square it off, it makes the flow into the kitchen not very good. Also, I need to maintain some kind of opening (27" min) to either door so that I could remove the fridge or stove if they ever stopped working (all appliances are new).

Other details:
- small square beside fridge is a furnace vent enclosed in a wall (this is not yet installed and can be moved a few inches to either side
- cabinets will be in nexus black brown (whenever it comes in...)
- countertops will be in a light coloured corian or silestone

Thanks!!

Re: Kitchen Design, Problem with entrances

Hi ikeavan, and welcome to IKEAfans!

I took a look at you plan and switched a few things around in the file I attached below. I'm not really happy with it but maybe it will give you some ideas. I used the corner wall cabinet as a base on one run. I also shortened the sink cab to 30" W and the drawer base to 24"W to do this.

Would it be possible to switch the range with the 15"W drawer stack? I'm concerned about its being right next to a doorway for safety reasons.

Does the range need to be on that wall to be able to vent to the outside?

Is there a reason that the wall cabinets are 30" H on the sink/range L and 39"H on the refrigerator L?

Where do each of the doors lead?

Maybe some others will chime in with some ideas. I'm stumped about that entryway.

Hi ikeavan! Welcome to IKEAFANS!

I don't have anything to offer - anyone who knows me knows I'm no good with design, but I wanted to say hi! Hopefully you'll get some comments more bright than mine! Gloria's already got you going, I'm sure!

Susan

Thanks for looking at this Gloria! The range and the drawer stack could get swapped. I was concerned about the range hood cutting into the corner counter area too much if they were swapped. But looking at your drawing, it doesn't look like the hood would intrude too much. I'll have to see how far out my actual hood sticks out. The range is on that wall because I've recently installed a gas line on that wall and I don't intend on moving it... The hood vent will go up through the roof so that doesn't really matter.

The height of the wall cabinets are different because there is a dropped ceiling in the kitchen on two of the four walls. It's about 10 inches in height. The door next to the range leads to the hall and rest of the house. The other door closest to the dishwasher goes outside.

The corner unit you put in looks good! I'm not sure about the sink as that will result in a smaller sink so I'll have to look around to see how big that sink actually is.

Thanks again, and let me know if you have some other good ideas.
