Okay- some background first. We will be building a new home next year. The architect is still drawing plans but this was a first draft floorplan and shouldn't change too much. The kitchen is around 16w x 19.5 long on one side. The side with the refrigerator is only 8 feet long and I am just fitting in that area. There is no wall at the top of the plan (the end where I have seating at the island) - it is open to a large dining area. The door shown is not a door but a passageway to the pantry/laundry area. The windows aren't exact yet and I am thinking of having another row of windows above the horizonatal wall cabinets. The desk area will be lowered but I didn't know how to do that on the planner. It is to the left of the horizontal cabinets. The large sink isn't put in yet - under the horizontal cabinets. The range isn't in there either - just a blank spot for now.
I haven't decided to go for the 36" range or the 48" one with two ovens. That would eliminate the wall oven area - but we do like our one wall oven/micro combination that we have now -especially since the wall oven would be electric. I cook a few large meals a year but not much baking. My youngest child is leaving for college this summer. (Yeah!) Once I can scan in the smaller floor plan, I will post that too. The kitchen and dining area are open to the great room and is separated by a see-through gas fireplace. Also, around a 45 degree corner from the desk will be a large bar area. I have no clue what to put there yet - am dealing with the kitchen first.
So, any suggestion/ideas are greatly appreciated. The general layout is from the architect since I don't think I have many design skills at all.
My file is on the Ikea website (canadian, if it matters)
