30" built-in microwave

I am trying to plan my kitchen (ugh!) And like many people I have the built-in microwave question.
I have a Wolf convection microwave that came with a trim kit, so I really would like to utilize its built-in feature.
The problem is, I have no idea which cabinet to buy. I am open to a high cabinet or a base cabinet.
I am still unsure whether or not I am buying a range or a single wall oven/cooktop
I have a few questions...Could I build this into the 30" wall oven cabinet? (So it would be on top of or below the wall oven?)
If I decide to do a cooktop, Could I build this in below the cooktop? I think I read on this site that although Ikea does have a wall oven below counter level (underneath a cooktop) this indeed is not possible, or at least not recommeded (right?)
Anyway...here are the specs on my microwave.
If anyone has ANY ideas, I would welcome it!
I gutted my kitchen and ripped down all the walls. I am down to studs, so really the possibilites are endless.
Wolf Convection Micro specs:
Overall Width- 29 and 7/8
Overall Height- 19 and 7/8
Overall depth- 20 and 1/8
Weight- 125 lbs
Minimum cabinet width is 30", although Wolf says they recommend 33" (which is not possible, I know)
Opening Width- 27.5
Opening Height- 18 and 11/16
Opening Depth- 20 and 1/8

THANK YOU SO MUCH for any ideas. I will try and post my floor plan, but I'm on a Mac, and can't use the software (which is half my problem!!! LOL )

Re: 30" built-in microwave

The key dimension is the cut-out width (27.5") which means the oven will fit into a 30" pantry or base cabinet - I would recommend the pantry.

Re: 30" built-in microwave

thank you torrus
I just realised that the pantry and oven cabinet is actually the same (HD 3080)
Does this mean I just buy the doors or drawers and fit them in myself around the microwave?
Do you know if a wall oven would fit in with the microwave on the pantry cabinet?
(I am unsure if I am going 80" or 88")
thank you..sorry if these are dumb questions, but i've never renovated anything before!

I've been blogged!
Re: 30" built-in microwave

If you are going to use an 88", check out the article that helps you pick out all the doors and drawers. The second page deals with microwaves.

Re: 30" built-in microwave

Wall ovens are typically 30" high - together with the microwave you need approx. 50" of vertical space...the lower part of both the 80 & 88" cabinet is 64" - which leaves enough space for one deep drawer (12.5") - the rest being filler.
The top doors will be 15" (80" cab.) or 24" (88" cab.).

Re: 30" built-in microwave

thank you zeuss, that link is fantastic. I am a visual person, I need to see it, so that really helped.
Thank you again torrus, for clarifying!
I hope to become more involved here as my kitchen ends the round of demo...(which is never ending since my house was built in 1890 in Boston! I am finding all sorts of weird stuff in my walls!!!!)

Re: 30" built-in microwave

I am buillding in a microwave...it will be in the 30' pantry..I will have drawers on the bottom to counter height..that will line up with the rest of the loser cabinet. Above that I will have a space with doors(2 since it is a 30" wide cabinet). i want to use that for the bread and chips that always sit on my counter and that wwill discourage theft from Dan and Casper..my 2 border colllies. I will the have the built in microwave which will fit according to the trim kit 30" by 19". I will then again have 2 doors and shelves above the microwave. Hope this makes sense. Vivi

Re: 30" built-in microwave

So then from the bottom, you'd have:
12.5" drawer
11.25" drawer
6.25" drawer
?" doors
19" for built in microwave
?" doors
Are you planning to use the 80" H or the 88"H cabinet?

Re: 30" built-in microwave

I am using the 80" cabinet with a smaller cabinet above. I have 10' ceiling height. You understood me correctly..that is exactly how it will be. Vivi

Re: 30" built-in microwave

The more I dig around at the galleries , the more I think I prefer this:
http://www.ikeafans.com/images/jecca...itchenwall.jpg
I would be ok with not using the trim kit that came with the Wolf. Does anyone know what cabinet this person used?

My space is very odd, so with a built-in fridge I am planning on, and the tall pantry next to it, I don't think I want another high cabinet in the room...I really wish I could access the planner on a Mac, to be sure. I downloaded the Google one, but I don't love it.
