Eva, thanks for the tips. I've made some changes to your suggestions. The
DW
is next to the sink in the same row - I've taken out the L. I lose some cabinets, but I think here, less is more. It makes the plumbing easier as well since the sink is where the plumbing naturally would be. I'll still have to run some electrical however, but I think we can manage that one.
My wife doesn't like the idea of losing some cabinets so I was wondering if people think that there are enough cabinets?
As for the microwave I think I'll put it on one of the shelves in the pantry and customize the doors to fit this - as per one of the
articles
in this forum. Hopefully my microwave will have enough ventilation
WrenX, thanks for suggesting the scullery and yes there is plumbing where the pantry is, but we would prefer to the have the sink where it is now. Also, with the newer plan the fridge is much closer to the stove.
I plan on actually have a small table in front of the fridge - closer to the door so that the fridge can open - to double as a telephone table as well as a small breakfast nook. I don't feel like going to the dining room to eat breakfast. This table also will allow my toddler a place to eat while I prepare dinner. It'll be tight, but I have my hopes - finding the right table will be difficult.
Another question is how to fill that 5 inch gap where my fridge and pantry are...suggestions welcome. I was think of making a 5 inch door and using that space as a broom closet. I can go exotic and have a small pull out with shelves for dried goods.
Thanks for all your help guys.
