this might be old news for some folks, but while at my local ikea, i got a bit crafty with a 12in pull-out and 2 ikea trash bins (fibbe). low and behold, a pair fits (only sideways for some reason) with no modification. they had the pull-out configured with a pair of 12in pullout shelves, but with a single shelf, they'd fit wonderfully. with the tops off, they fit even better (not as tight). take a look.
i think i've read almost every "trash pullout" post from the rev-a-shelf versions to the home-made variety. it was nice -- in planning the kitchen -- to find something that would be more appropriate to "ikeafans" than "ikeahacks" (i.e.: something that didn't requite the dremmel). next time i'm there, i might be tempted to grab all of the cans to see how they fit.
Thank you, thank you for posting that! I have two drawers at the top of my pullout, and the larger of the Fibbe containers fits exactly without the lid. Now I need to buy a second one and I'll be able to sort my recycling more efficiently.
