here is my latest thought of my kitchen design. I went to an ikea in
canada
today and got some good ideas. (oh, by the way I asked them about the nexus brown/black and one associate told me that they are discontinued as of right now and have no news on when they are going to be re-released. I figured either she didnt know what she was talking about or canada is not getting them back at this point. regardless, it doesnt matter to me being that I think they would be too dark for me, however the price on the nexus line is definitely nice).
anyway, back to the reason of my thread. Here is what I was thinking...for the main cabinets along the L shaped wall, I am thinking some sort of white cabinet but I cant decide on which (my choices at this point are the lidingo, adel or stat) with the ikea butcher block for countertop and hopefully the domsjo double sink (I am trying to convince my wife of its appeal, however she feels that it looks a bit too "little house on the prairie" and she feels we should be putting laundry in it and not dishes. However being that I am doing the remodel, I may get my way, plus the fact that the cabinets will be white will help as well...it will take some convincing though...it would be nice if it came in a stainless steel version, she would be all for that!!!)
for the island, I am going to do the liljestad dark brown with a hanstone deep beige with hints of white and brown countertop. The backsplash will be glass tiles with mixtures of whites, greys and browns. The floor will be a darker beige rustic tile.
What are your thoughts everyone? Do you feel it would be a good combo together? Is there a preference as to which white cabinet to go with? I was initially thinking the Lidingo since the door styles are very similar to the liljestad, but then I also really like the style of the stat (or is it the adel...which ever has the multiple panels vertically). any thoughts to the design as a whole?
All of our furniture is dark brown in the adjoining living and dining room (which after the remodel will combine the kitchen with them forming a large great room)...so we were thinking that the dark brown island will serve as a tie-in for the other furniture elements to the kitchen. also, we were going to include white accent design pieces thruout the living and dining rooms (for instance, the stools at the island will be dark brown with white seats and backs...the dining room table seats will be finished in the same fashion, and there will be pillows with whites in them on the couch and chairs, as well as the wall hangings will have hints of whites in them).
any and all feedback is welcomed with open arms.
thanks.
