We are in the process of replacing our kitchen island. The final size will be 66” x 48’' with a cutout for a 30” slide in range. I was set to use the Fagerland doors but when I placed the small samples on the floor (Saltillo tiles), it doesn’t seem to work. The color is too close to each other. My next choice is either the Adel medium brown or the Liljestad dark brown. I am afraid the Adel medium brown is too contemporary and the dark brown is too imposing as the island is quite large. I could also leave it white but the white may not be exactly the same as the existing cabinets plus it seems a little boring. I am attaching a few pictures of the work in progress. Any ideas? Hello and welcome to IKEAfans!
My first thought is that the Liljestad doorstyle is more similar to the current perimeter cabinets with the raised panel, but you might want some other darker elements or accessories to balance it. The countertop material will go a long way towards helping the new island look like it belongs. The Adel MB seems like it would go well with your woodwork (french door?). The right handles/pulls can make it look less contemporary.

I think Adel MB would work well...you can always get more traditional pulls for it and it would be a nice Shaker style. Liljestad would also work.

Thanks for the input. I think I will go with Adel MB, and if it doesn't work, I can always paint it green.
