After spending hours trying different setups, my wife looked at the plan for about 5 seconds and said there are no drawers. Opps!!! I guess I need to put silverware somewhere. So I modified it a bit, got rid of a corner cabinet and faced a 24" base cabinet out the back of the peninsula. That gave me enough room to add 2 drawers. Does anybody else have a design that may work better?

The kitchen is 10' 5" X 11' 2" in a U shape as seen in the pictures. As much as I have tried, I can't find a way to center a sink under the window. The right side of the windows is 3' 10" from the right wall.

Working on it....

question: how wide is your current range? Because in your pix you have a little cabinet next to it, and on the planner there is no room there.

And what is the length of your current peninsula?

Also, do you want to go with the shorter cabs and keep the soffit or remove the soffit and go with the 39 inch uppers?

Also, what is that extra wall that you have in your floorplan on the range wall side?

The current range is 30". I would like to try and keep everything standard to make it easier to replace in the future. This is a house I'm in the process of buying, and I might have to hold off on the new appliances until I can save up a little more cash after this remodel.

The small cabinet to the right of the fridge is 8". I was thinking I would open the doorway up just a bit and build a small wall the height of the cabinets. I would face the front and sidewith cover panels to match the cabinets and top it with a small piece of countertop to make a small (about 8" wide) countertop. Still working on this.

The picture is an optical illusion. There isn't a soffit. The light above the sink is attached to the cabinet bar above the sink.

The peninsula is 6' from the wall to the end of the cabinets. This can be extended a bit. Also, the cabinets can be extended a bit towards the patio door. There is some extra room in both these areas.

The window is 26" wide. 3' 10" from the right wall and 4' from the edge of the left cabinet.

I may be an inch or two off on the window. I took all these mesurements on one of the visits to the place. I don't close on it until March 30th. I'm planning on gutting the whole first floor, including the kitchen.

Great! Now about these two questions:

Also, do you want to go with the shorter cabs and keep the soffit or remove the soffit and go with the 39 inch uppers?

So going with the taller uppers is OK?

Also, what is that extra wall that you have in your floorplan on the range wall side?

It's still a mystery!

OK. The placement of the window and the wall sizes are slightly off in your file, which I uploaded. I've fixed them to reflect what you just said, and I'll get something up for you in a bit.

You guys are great! As far as the higher uppers, I don't mind them but I'm afraid they will make my small kitchen seem even smaller. Let me know otherwise.

OK here's what I'm thinking might work out, depending on actual clearances etc. I gave you 39 inch uppers and the sink is *almost* centered, I used your measurements for the window being 3'10" from the rightmost wall. The 21" inch cab might have to go down to a 15 inch depending on your clearances. The peninsula here is 78 inches, or about 6 inches longer than your current. If needed you can cut down one the end 15 inch to a 12 inch pullout. You can also change the 15 inch to the right of the DW to a pullout for trash, or if you change the 21" to the left of the sink to a 15 you can use that for trash.

North view, pantry wall (ignore crazy cover panel) I see that you have the fridge in this location, so I just built storage around it for an entire wall of storage.

Is there such a thing as a double bowl sink for a 30" cabinet?

I know you can do a bowl and a half sink, not sure about the double sink. There has been discussion of borrowing space from the adjacent cabinets for a bigger sink.

Do consider what the function of your sink will ideally be...sometimes people want a double bowl because that's what they've always had, when a large single bowl or sink and a half will serve their needs better.
