It looks really, really amazing. Congratulations. I'm still trying to get my mind wrapped around all the work you did in such a short period of time (did you flip the kitchen and the dining room- or am I crazy?). You should be really proud, I can't wait to see your episode.
Thanks you guys, really. I couldn't have done this without all your cheering, support and experience. Sniff...sniff...I love you man....sniff...sniff....
Even my babysitter loves the kitchen (or maybe she just loves that we have a functioning kitchen again LOL).
Tudi - I will do my darndest to remember to take a picture with the handles. I absolutely love them - they're a little different and a nice bit of contrast with the doors.
I am in a frenzy trying to get everything ready for Saturday. The House Hunters crew will be here on Saturday morning around 9:00. We'll film all day and hopefully wrap up around 6:00 (although if the last taping was any indication it won't be until later). I don't know when the episode will air but I'll get a better sense from the producer on Saturday.
ETA: Brodysmom - we didn't flip any of the rooms. What we did was combine a den with the kitchen to make an eat-in kitchen. The original plan (waaaay back) was to combine the dining room with the kitchen - this plan works out by leaving me with a dining room and getting an eat-in kitchen.
How'd the taping go ??? Any news on when your episode will be aired ???
Your kitchen is beautiful... What was the first meal you cooked in it ??
Wish I had some extra space for the broom closet. That is so functional.....

So Jenn, were you a nervous wreck on taping day? Were you running around all morning picking up every little piece of fuzzor dust to achieve perfection?
Or maybe now that she's famous, she's forgotten us.

We're taking a break. We decided to do absolutely nothing and enjoy the sensation of nothing for a while. It's been 6 whole days and now I'm going stir crazy.:shock:
I think that the filming was disappointing for the producer. We had the same producer and same cameraman but different sound guy than the first time. She had a lot of shots that she wanted to do outside but it was just too hot to make it really feasible. She also wanted to do a lot of shots with the kids and they. would. not. cooperate. They were still pissed that we'd shipped them out to Granny and Grandpa's the night before so that we could clean - so they weren't in the mood to cooperate.e
We started off first thing with the "pros and cons of each house" and "which house we chose and why" segment.:shock:We needed a neutral place so we barged in on my sister unannounced and filmed in her backyard. Which was fine except my ankles were eaten to little tiny pieces by whatever flying thing was hanging around.
We got back to the house and did the interview section in the living room and then did a longer section in the kitchen highlighting the things we did. Then...she finally got to the kids. Ha!!! I told her that if she wanted cooperation, we'd better get them first thing in the morning. And when I say first thing..I mean first thing...not sometime in the morning. So...the kids were seen fleetingly but there wasn't a whole lot of them.
The rest of the day was spent with them filming the rooms so that they could do the before and after.
I'm thankful that I've had the experience so I can say that I did it. I'm not sure that I ever need to do it again. Especially not like that. It was way too much stress to move into the house and do absolutely nothing but work on it. On the other hand, the house is mostly done. I'm not staring at an endless list of "to dos" for months on end. There are some things that need to get done - paint the exterior of the house, upgrade the electrical to 200-amp, and fix our drainage issues - but they don't need to get done right now.
So that's that. We're in the kitchen and I'm finding little annoying things like the sink isn't totally straight in the countertop and we need to fix the backsplash and finish caulking and I need to get some drawer organizers but I love it. I need to get Tony back to make the banquette...or maybe we could make it...hmmmm...
Man, what a whirlwind. I'm sure it's just a bit of a deflation after all those months of hard work, and a break is just what you deserve. Take your time getting used to living life on YOUR schedule again...
