WOW! It's all so beautiful. Love your color choices, especially the shower tile. I know you're very happy to be finished and to have made something so pretty to boot.
Re: Ikeafreak's Nexus Birch kitchen (and brand new addition!)
Thanks to everyone for such great compliments. It was a long process, but the end result works beautifully for our family!
Susan and Eva, you should both give yourselves a pat on the back too! You both gave suggestions that ended up in the finished product. Eva, your advice on the dark sconces above the mantel was key. Everyone comments on them and I think they are perfect. Brushed nickel sconces would have been totally boring and dull.
Susan, I will work on uploading the pictures to the galleries in the next few days. I will try to add more shots of the kitchen cabinets too.
And now to answer some of Eva's questions... How are the vessel sinks and glass countertop working out maintenance wise?
I have glass vessels and countertops in the master bath as well as the powder room and they are no trouble at all. The sinks are a breeze to clean with 409 or regular glass cleaner. I don't treat them with kid gloves at all.
Before the addition, the house was so cluttered and I never felt like cleaning...it felt too overwhelming, so I could never seem to get in the mood. But now everything has its place and I actually enjoy cleaning.
And what is the little room with all the beige leather chairs?
I think you mean the sun porch/mudroom, the room with the 10 square mirrors? That is actually outdoor furniture. It's the first room off the side entrance and it leads into the kitchen.
And is the armless chair comfortable to sit on?
I got that chair at Overstock.com and LOVE it. It's super duper comfy and deep enough that my husband (6'4") enjoys sitting on it.
How well does the fan work?
The kitchen exhaust fan works great, but I don't have much to compare it to. The fan we had before never worked. To be honest, we use the hood mostly as a light for the island area.

How in the world did I miss this? (smacking oneself in the head!!!!!)
It's absolutely beautiful!! Love the choice of shade color against the orange walls.
How is keeping the glass hood clean? I've been considering it for our future redo, but was concerned about yuk building-up.
Those are the same sinks we were looking to possibly use in our bathroom redo. Did you get them via internet? What size are they? LOVE the blue tile in the shower.
Re: Ikeafreak's Nexus Birch kitchen (and brand new addition!)
Heather, the whole thing is utterly gorgeous! It looks very comfortable and workable, but would fit right in the pages of a top decorating magazine as well.
Re: Ikeafreak's Nexus Birch kitchen (and brand new addition!)
Thanks again to everyone!
Laurie,
How embarrassed was I when I realized you posted your response THREE MONTHS AGO and I'm just now replying!?!?!? So sorry.
To answer your questions...
The glass hood has been no problem at all to clean. I don't even have to use a stepstool to do it. It's far enough away from the cooktop so the dirt and dust don't get 'baked on.' Just a little bit of professional foam glass cleaner does the trick everytime.
As for the master bathroom vanities, I got them from modernbathroom.com and they are 39" wide x 22" deep. I love them. I would probably get the frosted glass top and sink if I had it to do over again. Not because they're hard to clean, but because I don't get around to cleaning them enough.
I would never have made it through my renovation without you all! I can't thank you enough! I'm now trying to convince my mother to rip her kitchen out and install Lindingo. If she agrees, I'll be seeing lots of you all in the near future.
Re: Ikeafreak's Nexus Birch kitchen (and brand new addition!)
No problem on the delayed response. It'll probably be FOREVER before I ever get my renovated kitchen, so I'm in no hurry. I just thought that with our small space, perhaps the glass on the hood would somehow make it feel more open, if that's possible?

Claire,
I got the green rug from Home Decorators Outlet.com a few years ago. I actually got a 7'9" round and a 8' x 11' of the same pattern and couldn't be happier with them! They are really well made and I fell so in love with them that I built the entire kitchen-dining room-family room-mudroom color scheme around them. Thanks for the compliment!
