This is our final design, we are removing a wall which is essentiallyin the middle of the peninsula. We are also going to raise the window and move the door about 3 feet, up so that we can get the run of cabinets along the wall, and get the fridge in there and out of the way.
the bathroom in case anyone's curious has been done, and we just repainted it as the original orange didn't sit will with Jen.
We ordered last sunday 8-13 at the Ikea in Emeryville, and paid for delivery and it all arrived 2 days ago 8-20.
That's where it all is right now, in the garage, we'll assemble it this weekend. So no doubt I'll have questions.
We ordered the Hood from Ikea, as the price is good, and it looks good too.
We have an LG Titanium Fridge side by side, and one fisher/paykel dishdrawer that we're going to put in a 30" Cab somehow, I did see some basic info on how to do that in the how-to's.. Above that will goa Shelf/Opening for the microwave.
Our one last decision which will come down to how much we spend as we go through it is whether we can get the 30" Viking Range we want, if not we'll get something a little less flash for now.
Backsplash will most likely be bisazzo Cipro, or something similar. And we're trying to decide what granite will go with it, I love an absolute black, but Jen prefers a more subtle colour.
The walls will be the yellow that we have in the room already, or maybe if we go nuts we'll have a red accent wall.
I really like the color you used in the bathroom, and the windows all have such nice trim! Your "before" kitchen photos were fun, I liked how people (you?) had added those litttle twist-in hooks as an effort to make the space more functional. I bet your new plan will be so much more fun to work in!
No the bathroom was done with no ikea stuff, just the link I had for the kitchen included the old bathroom pics as well, so I felt it was fair to show how it had progressed, the house is a pre-1906 earthquake Victorian which explains all the window mouldings etc, so that's pretty sweet.
Alright we assembled most of the cabinets this past weekend, pretty straightforward so far. And fun, its so nice to be able to do part of the work yourself, and I'm proud of the mrs for designing the kitchen.
Hi! I'm wondering if you have any pics of your progress. I'm in the middle of major renovations and have had my little (10x11)kitchen gutted, laid new hardwood flooring and have had new moulding installed.
I'm using the Adel Medium Brown cabinets with the birch frames, Captiva legs and Varde hardware. Since the kitchen is so small, I'm eliminating the table and using a 36"w x 12" d x 30"h cabinet, intalling casters and mounting a 24" countertop. I'm going to put in against the wall and pull it out when needed.
But, I'm stuck though on the countertop and backsplash. I want to use a light, smoky, grayish blue on the walls. I'm leaning towards a black granite countertop but, my father is trying to encourage me to usea tan/brown granite.
Unfortunatly, I don't have before pics but, will have tons of after shots. It's all starting to come together if I could only figure out the darn counters!
I think thats what I'm leaning towards. I'm having problems finding pictures of Adel MB with Black counters but, I'm using my imagination and a lot of squinting action looking at different kitchens that aren't Ikea.
Good luck with the in-laws and the kitchen. lol I'm just starting to put my cabinets together but, I'm gonna get stuck soon if two of the cabinet frames dont come in soon.
Also, I ordered the over the rangemicrowave/exhaust from the Ikea in Elizabeth, NJ and was charged $30.00 extra to pick it up. They apparently don't have delivery to the store and use some warehouse that you have to pick it up at. If I have it home delivered, it's over $100.00. I have to say that although it's only $30.00 it's ticking me off that it's advertised for $349.00 but, you actually have to pay $379.00 to purchase it. It so does not make any sense to me. *scratching head* Has anyone else encountered that problem?
