I am so in love with your floor!!
My wife and I have been going back and forth for ages now trying to decide what type and color of floor to do in our kitchen. We had considered doing slate, but mostly what you see around here is the more green/blue slate which really didn't work for me. After I showed her your floor pictures she immediately agreed with me that we had found our flooring solution! Now we come to the down side- I priced it at our local Lowe's and it was $7.25 per sq ft, Yikes!! (I actually work there btw, but even with my employee discount it will cost approx twice what you found it for!) Anyway, hopefully I will be able to find a less ouchsome source because I have to have that floor!

I really wanted to incorporate some slate in our house, but DH really doesn't like it. Good thing for him I never saw the copper. Can't wait to see your finished kitchen.

This process has been . . . both lovely & grueling. The countertop guys are coming to measure the template at 7:30 a.m.

Pictured is our 2nd load (yes, I really did "forget" that much stuff (4 carts full).
A random IKEAN who walked by & laughed at me taking the picture of my carts, so I made her get in my photo.
3 kitchen shots: Eva, can you see your design?? The Frigidaire Twins will take up the HUGE fridge hole. The island is is sight.

For my floor groupies: It is NOT shiny now (which I kind of like, but did not expect) . . . I might re-coat with 511 Seal & Enhance . . . after all, it was $200 for the gallon (!)

I just want to say that the fingerprints on the range & fridge DO NOT APPEAR in real life -- it is the flash that puts them there!

Here is the range wall & "wall o' fridge" (ok, as I looked at it, it is a WHOLE lot of refrigerated space, but I do have 4 kids & my mom lives with us).

It is quite dark, isn't it? I am thinking about Dulci's SS backsplash with some accent color . . . will go look at the sheet metal place tomorrow.

The last picture is a wall box that got screwed up with the little nails in the back & so got recycled as a vent cover -- fashioned so as to be removeable for maintenance -- and to make those cabs useful for weird stuff like gaudy lemonade pitchers

i love what you and the carpenters have done. and omg, they are carpenters, NOT contractors! beautiful kitchen.

it's funny, i hate ss, but i love the ss tile that is kind of cushion edges (not beveled) i'm just obsessed with them.

Love love love how your kitchen is turning out. I'm not a fan of tile in the kitchen (horrible horrible memories of an all-white ceramic tile floor in our first kitchen) but your kitchen floor and animes2k have me just drooling.

And I am absolutely gob smacked at your Frigidaire Twins...if only I had the space for them because they're absolutely gawjus. I have a counter depth fridge which is ok - we certainly eat more leftovers because we can find them but there are times when I wish I could squeeze one more thing in the fridge and to have all that freezer space?!?! I would think I'd died and gone to heaven.
