Thank you, Thank you! I'm thrilled with how it turned out. I was so worried that we hadn't ordered enough (box and a half left) or that it was going to be too dark and too close to the Adel doors but I think it looks nice. The last final decision looms though, backsplash! Argh!

Well to start off I just spent 30 mins looking through the posts and your kitchen turned out awesome, you should be proud!
I am getting ready to start my house remodel, and the kitchen is very close to the top of the urgent list.
I was curious about your floor, I could see in the one picture that you went with Quik-Step.... I am curious if your hubby installed that himself. I want to install laminate in my living room and I really like one of the Quik-Step planks.
Also, what is the distance between your counter and your wall cabinets?
Thanks Tudi! We've been sampling since September and I'm glad one more decision is done and done well!
mskugler - We used Quick Step Eligna series in Cherry, Double plank. It went down very easily and we found it the cheapest at floorone.com.

Stacy - It's lovely ... I love the contrast between the floor and the cabinets ... definitely not too dark - and not too close to the Adel MB. Your kichen is fabulous.... It's got to feel great to be so close to being finished - and to have done so much of it yourselves.... You've done such a wonderful job!!
The backsplash was one of the easiest decisions I made .... I really really struggled with the floor and the countertops ... but knew all along that I wanted slate .... there are soooo many wonderful tiles ... glass, tile and other materials... I'm sure you'll find something that you'll love ...

Awesome - I will check Floor One out.... what underlayment did you go with? Sorry for being greedy!
Also - how much room do you have between your counter top and the upper cabinet? It looks like they are closer then normal, but I like the look and it may allow me to get bigger cabs up top if I go that route as well!
We got the unisound underlayment - I don't know if it bought us anything since we have a 1 story and it's designed to reduce sound in the floors below but it was $150 price difference and if it does help with noise and echo it's worth that...
I'll have to measure our distance but I know it's on the shorter side.
