I was thinking about getting the Manstad sofabed. Now I can't find it on the website? It is new, i've seen it on there before, but it seems to have vanished!
Does anyone know if it has been discontinued or what the story is on it?
It's not been discontinued. IKEA didn't realize that it was going to be so popular, so for the next 6 months, there will be limited supply. I get so many calls about them. The newest stores get merchandise first (West Chester,
Orlando
, Sunrise), then the stores that do the most money (Elizabeth, Paramus, Long Island, Schaumburg get them next.
We called the West Chester store, and asked about it. They told us they aren't even able to take orders for it for 6 months, is that true? They also said that Ikea didn't know how popular they would be and didn't make enough, basically what you said.
I had a coworker got to the West Chester to help out the week they opened. She said the first day, all of them sold out. She said they were flying off the shelf. The Manstad replaces the Fagelbo and IKEA should have been ready, because the Fagelbo was very popular. So many people call about them, they don't even care if they get the left or right, or the Dark Gray or Dark Beige. They just want one!
Same problem here in Canada. Not a single store has the Manstad I'm looking for - beige with chaise on right. I've been on a mission to get one for 4 weeks now. IKEA Canada's customer service has not been very helpful, telling me to place 'special customer orders' at my local store, even though the stores cannot take orders: after all there is no Manstad anywhere that they can book for me in their system! I must say that local store employees (I'm lucky enough to have 3 stores within a 30 minute drive) have been extremely good at trying to accommodate me, even though there wasn't much they could do.
4 weeks and counting - I'm starting to get a bit impatient...
Well, duh! Silly me. I actually looked at that as well - but I forgot the name, and then I thought you said it wasn't on the site anymore and I couldn't find it in my catalog...excuses, excuses. Thanks for the link!
I got the dark grey with storage on the right. It took my wife and I 2 1/2-3 hours to put it together, my inlaws stayed with us the same night and loved it, said it was very comfortable.
