Does anyone have a MANSTAD sofa bed on which they could comment? My wife and I have loved this piece since we saw it at our local IKEA and she really wants one. When we sat on the display, it seemed to sit well and looked as though it was standing up to rough usage (you know, the kind of usage that a showroom piece gets).

It seems everyone wants an IKEA kitchen, I suppose. I guess they're really cheap, compared to others, and oh my, oh so beautiful...
IKEA is the largest home company in the world, like Wal-Mart is in terms of being a shopping conveince store. Of course, IKEA has quality ideas and products, Wal Mart...
My wife really loved the style of it, and I liked the storage aspect. It looks like a really nice addition to a living room. I'll have to report back when we go down to IKEA next week to buy it!

Bruce (and others!) are you happy with the Manstad? We're considering it for our basement rec room. The stairs are switchback stairs and we're not sure we can get a traditional sofa down there... but since the Manstad comes in pieces, we're thinking that will probably work.

Absolutely!!! This piece is probably one of the best pieces IKEA markets. It went together exceptionally easily (see my notations on the instructions in the archive for pitfalls) and sits very well. It feels sturdy when in use (hard to describe, except to say the sofa feels like it's better quality than the other sofa we had--and that sofa was from a big, local chain). And changing it to the bed configuration is an absolute snap.
Geez, and I nearly forgot the extra storage in the lounge!!

oh good! glad to hear the good reviews on the manstad! hubby fell in love with it when we were in the store this past weekend and wants one for his game room. he thinks it would be perfect for lounging on while he plays Xbox!
i just wish it came in better colors
the sales associate did tell us that they are redoing it and plan to make it like their other chaise style pieces where you can interchange which side you put the chaise on! whereas right now you have to choose left or right and you are stuck with it! maybe when they release that one they will come out with a better color!!!????
