We are going up to the Woodbridge VA store this weekend. We want to send in our plan today and reserve the bits, but DH was just told we can only "reserve" for the same day we're picking up. We want to buy Saturday and pick up Sunday because we are spending the night with friends and don't want the rental SUV broken into! But Ikea said no, you ahve to pick up the same day you pay.
any advice on how to a) make sure they have all the bits and b) pick up Sunday morning vice Saturday? Long distance is a logistics nightmare!
When I ordered from the Seattle store, they let me fax my order and they pulled the order and put a 7 day hold on it. I went to the Kitchen dept and got the install instruction folder, went to check out to pay and then went to the pick up area and they had it all pulled already. I would call back and ask about a 7 day hold.
What's your door style? Is it a THT (take home today)?
If it is, you'll have no troubles waiting until the day of pickup...and Woodbridge has UPSed me an item or two that were out of stock.
You may want to fax them your order Saturday, they can input it, and then you can swing in Sunday, review it, pay in kitchens, play in the store, grab some $.99 breakfast and then go right down to Furniture Pickups and get your stuff.
See if you can get Tiffany Mount on the line there. She's wonderful.
ETA: Seattle isn't a company store - so their policies are different. Sometimes to the better, apparently!
Woodbridge may not do a 7-day hold but it's worth asking! Thanks
Our lower cabs will be Nexus birch and the uppers, well, I wanted Duvbo but at this point, I will go with whatever is THT that looks good.
We're very likely to need to sell on short notice soon, so we want the kitchen looking good, but in case we're on hold for the move, I want to like it too!
Well, the other thing is to pay via fax with a credit card. But I'm not terribly keen on that system.
The idea of sending my credit card # along with my signature and social security number to a random, unsupervised fax machine is not my idea of 21st century identity security.
Well, teh final result was a bit odd but it worked. We drove up Saturday morning, went in to Kitchens to get our order straight and ready to go for Sunday, and were told we could put it on 24-hour hold! But if we paid then, we had to pick up then. So we put everything on hold and picked up this morning.
We had two shelves on backorder--one 24 incha nd one 36 inch, and by this morning, we had the 24 inch in hand. Still no 36 inch, and it's too big to UPS, but hey, a shelf is a shelf, and we can get one at HD. It's for inside the 36 in base cab.
Thanks for everyone's help--now all we need is a good handyman in Norfolk, and a fnial check tomake sure it's really in good shape. It was hard to check everything in a stiff wind at 45 degrees this morning!
I posted this question in the wrong place...may I repost here?
We are in Ann arbor Mi. We have visited- and plan to get a new kitchen from the Chicago area stores. The Michigan store in Canton will open too late for our current renovation calendar. He says- we should order from the smaller Bollingbrook store- to get the best in stock- because there seems to be less density of people.I say we should get from the Schaumburg store because it is bigger and older and more used to the higher demand. What about getting from both? Can we work it that way? What does anyone else think?
If you place a 'Distribution Order' (ie. an order that is shipped to the store from the warehouse, timeframe about 2 weeks) it makes no difference which store you go to - all they do is place the order and call you when it has arrived at the store.
