Lightbulb Re: Bad News For Home Shopping Across the World

Quote from earlier: "This sounds like a great business opportunity for some of the IKEA Fans! Not only could they help design and plan the IKEA kitchens, they could order the components at an IKEA, pick up the order, deliver it, and help install and modify everything.

We know there is a demand out there, someone should fill that gap in the IKEA services. "

Hi I'm in Australia & there are 3 stores in 3 States/major cities Logan (near Brisbane), Rhodes (near Sydney), Richmond (near Melbourne) plus 2 franchise stores- one in Adelaide, one in Perth. Just imagine how far people travel to get to their IKEA store!
AS there is no phone or internet buying service I thought I'd try offering a purchase service via ebay (not installation). Buyers needed to cover costs + a small % fee.
Though I had a lot of hits, no one asked me to purchase on their behalf.

Not sure what to try next- maybe my own website rather than ebay is the way to go. I'd be interested in your thoughts.
thanks.

Re: Bad News For Home Shopping Across the World

Until recently, an Australian company's been offering the same service, plus a little more. The customer picks items out of the online catalogue, and they will purchase, deliver, and assemble products (if requested). I went looking for the website to show you, but it looks like they're no longer in business.

I thought it was a fantastic idea, but perhaps, judging by the previous company's attempt, there is not so much demand for it as one might expect, in Australia at least.
