Re: My Experience With IKEA Direct

Well I'm having my first real issue with Ikea Direct...and it stinks.
I ordered the Anes bed and a few storage items last month on the 17th, about a $600 order that I'm paying an additional $300 in shipping charges. I received confirmation several days later that the items were available to ship. Great.
I rec'd another email a few days later stating my order had left the IKEA warehouse terminal on the 22nd and I would be contacted about delivery.

Nothing happened. I waited a few days, really about a week, then called IKEA customer to check on the status when I didn't recieve any call from the shipping co.
I was told the order had indeed left their terminal and the shipping company was "figuring a route" for delivery and that I would be contacted the following day. No one called. BTW, NSENDA OR Insenda is the name of the shipping company.
So I called again- twice this week, and I was told the same, I'd be contactedthat day or the next to schedule delivery. I'm still waiting. They keep giving me the run-around and I'm fed up. What is the deal?
Apparently my order is sitting on their shipping dock somewhere and has been since the 22nd of July and they aren't in any hurry to ship it. IS THIS NORMAL?
I ordered my kitchen cabinets this way and didn't have any problems.
Whats frustrating is I can't get a straight answer from anyone I talk to.
I'm at the point of canceling & forgetting the whole thing. IKEA customer service and shipping process STINKS!!!!!

Re: My Experience With IKEA Direct

I think IKEA uses Ensenda

Try going to their website and click the Track Deliveries link and see if you have enough info to locate your delivery.

Please let us know if this works - it would be invaluable to be able to get this information since IKEA seems incapable.

Thanks for the tip, Woodswell...
I tracked my order...it appears to be in holding mode still...shows estimated delivery date of between Aug 3 and Sep 5. Seeing how its already Aug 16, it looks like they are taking every bit of that time to get it here. There is no reason it should take this long to deliver IMO.
I like their products, but dang it, IKEA needs to step up their customer service and shipping procedures.

Re: My Experience With IKEA Direct

Oh and btw, it doesn't give a location of where the order is...only a timeline of when they rec'd the order and delivery request.
Not sure how reliable the info is. It is also showing that delivery was scheduled with recipient on July 24, but it indeed has not been. No one has contacted me about delivery. July 24 was when I rec'd an email from Ikea saying that it had left their terminal and that the shipping co would be contacting me about delivery.

Re: My Experience With IKEA Direct

I think it is the crappy shipping company. As I said - for my town, the were only making one delivery a month. So if a delivery arrived the day after they had loaded the truck to come to Tallahassee, it sat in their warehouse for a solid month before being delivered. And there was no flexibility as to the time of the delivery. When they called me, they told me they would be here at 6:30 AM. On a Saturday.

I was here and ready at 6:30 freaking AM but the driver got lost or delayed and they did not arrive until after 8 AM. Since I am a severe insomniac, that sleep cost me dear the rest of the weekend.

There are much better freight shipping companies out there but IKEA seems to have gone to the bottom of the barrel lowest rung shipper - even though they seem to be very high priced for the customer.

Thumbs down Re: My Experience With IKEA Direct

Unfortunately I think your right, woodswell.
As for now I'm holding Ikea responsible because after I called the first couple of times, I asked for the shipping company phone #, and the rep gave me a phone number, but it wasn't the shipping company's # it was just to another dept of Ikea. That person then usually puts me on hold when I call & then while I'm holding supposedly contact Ensenda about the status, so I never get to talk to the shipping company.
And I still haven't gotten anything.

Re: My Experience With IKEA Direct

Ok, everyone. Latest update. And I wish I could change this post from "thumb down" to "thumb sideways". They quickly replaced my broken toekicks.

I was putting together the cabinet frames for the last few days and I got to the last one, opened the box, and, lo, it had been dropped right on the corner at some point before it reached my house. Great! It's already past the "7 days to confirm your order is OK" limit. Well, I decided to call anyway to see what would happen. I needed to order a whole other cabinet and a few more doors in addition to this problem, anyway. So I called. Can you believe it - "I'll have the replacement frame shipped as soon as possible along with the rest of your additional order. I will also waive the $100.00 shipping fee".

Wow! Seems like they waste a lot of time/money fixing avoidable mistakes in their process but at least they're fixing them in a civil manner. Minor kudos for that, I guess. So, in summary, I still feel a little better about this process than driving to the closest store and getting my kitchen myself.

glad you feel a bit better. and as in most cases, preventative would be better in the long run than fixing errors. maybe they'll learn someday

Thumbs down Re: My Experience With IKEA Direct

Well folks, it's back to a thumbs down. Here's one of the most important tips I think you can take from this post, anyway: don't let them ship UPS. This was hopefully going to be my final order, but over 50% of the items are damaged!!! It's horrible and completely ridiculous. I was just laughing as I opened each box and found a corner destroyed here, a piece chipped there.

If you value your shipment, especially items with corners, don't let them ship UPS. UPS apparently doesn't give a f*$k about your stuff.

So, I'm going to look a little closer and see if the damage can just be hidden. It's really bad, though. I am depressed again. I will never do this again. Buy cabinets local. Period.

IKEA just needs MORE stores and they should handle their own delivery. I don't understand why they don't just pop up stores all over the place - i'm sure there's demand for it.

Anyway...back to being depressed. I have to decide if I want to pursue a 4th delivery. I beginning to feel pretty bad about the whole ordeal...all the energy wasted...the gas burned for delivery...it's a **** shame.
