I'll start with the most frustrating question: Why isn't the article number for the suspension rails (84675400) recognized when I try adding it to my cart on the website?

Do I need to order cover panels for the exposed sides of my cabinets? What about for the side of the dishwasher (which is also exposed)?

Do I call to place my order or do I do it all online?

You cannot place a kitchen cabinet order online. Stinks, but that is the way IKEA does it. You can order by calling IKEA Direct - and they will be able to find the correct part numbers for the suspension rail, the correct color cover panels to go with your cabinet fronts and the sizes you need.

Usually the cabinets look better with the cover panels - it just finishes them off with a better quality surface and adds just that extra touch. As for the dishwasher, yes you will need something for that side. See the article How to install a dishwasher at the end of a cabinet run.
