I bought a couple of doors for a small cabinet I built. Doors were only $3.I'm using the Integral 130 hinges. I had to cut the doors a bit and need to move the hinges. I don't want to spend the money for a template and special bit just for 2 doors. Does anyone know what I can use to drill new holes for these hinges and what size bits? Just a do-it-yourselfer here, not a lot of carpentry experience. Thanks.
Hey Experts (which I am sooo not)! Can you comment on how to accomplish this? Bayridge you might want to provide a bit more info on exactly where your hinges need to move? Perhaps a photo?
i've never redrilled for the holes and i think the threads discussing it only give bit information and such... let me see if there is anything in "similar threads" often the best place to get info
Hi. Doesn't matter where they go. The two smaller ones are easy, I can just use a drill bit. Its the big hole, It's about 1 3/8" (about 35 mm). Can't use a wood hole bit, it has that point that will go thru the front of the door. I'm thinking of maybe using a router bit and make some kind of template. Don't think it needs to be perfect, just tight enough so the clamps will hold. Will have to do some experimenting. Thanks.
Pretty sure it's 35mm, you need a forstner bit to drill the flat bottomed hole and to get it dead square a small drill press or drill guide would probably be very useful. There;s a bunch of threads that talk about similar issues but here's one for reference: http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/got-q...html#post57592
In general it's doable, but a bit tricky to drill the hinge holes right without a guide, but if you're only working with an inexpensive door, it's worth a shot!
Good luck and steady hands to you!
James

I just bought a 35mm bit on ebay for this for $15. No guide so I'll practice a bit on scrap first. Arlig door is only $3 at Ikea. Don't know how they do this but I'm not complaining. Thanks.
